They can offer you not just recommended exercises and workouts but you can use them to track your diet, schedule your workouts, and more! They can even offer explanations to exercises so you can learn just how to do them right and get the most out of your workouts. The workout apps that work for you depending on what exactly you want out of them and your fitness goals in general. It will likely take some trial-and-error to find the right app for you so just be open and do some research if necessary. It can also depend on if you’re willing to spend some money on good workout apps or if you’d prefer not to. A lot of workout apps offer free versions with a lot of their features locked until you purchase the full version, which can be a good way to test out the app and see if you like/want its features then spend the money if you want to. Here are 5 great workout apps to stay in shape at home!

This is one of the best free workout apps you can get for really specializing your home workouts. The app is very customizable letting you set a “weekly goal” depending on the number of days you want to train and how hard you want to workout and such. Most workouts will have three levels from beginner to advanced depending on your current fitness level. This helps ensure your workouts and tough enough but not so tough you can’t complete them. The app also lets you choose from different muscle groups you’re looking to work such as abs, chest, arm, leg, etc. If you’re looking to really sculpt your abs during quarantine then you can just select the “abs beginner (intermediate or advanced)” section and get to work! Not a lot of workout apps with this many customizable options and workouts are free so take advantage and utilize this one!

2. 7-Minute Workout (Android & Apple)

If you want workout apps that you can squeeze into your busy day then 7-minute workout might be perfect for you. Per its name, the app sets workouts with several exercises that all add up to just seven minutes! It also offers a calendar so you can keep track of what days you worked out. The app is also built to help you keep track of your weight and overall weight loss over time of using the app. Whether you’re looking to lose weight, gain some muscle, or improve your cardiovascular function then this app is great to squeeze in a workout every day!

3. Fitness & Bodybuilding (Android)

The workout apps best suited for true beginners to the fitness world are ones like this. The Fitness & Bodybuilding application works as a great hybrid between giving you set workouts to do and incrementally increase repetitions and such. Of course, if looking to stay in shape at home then you’ll need a pretty stocked home gym with weights in order to utilize this app to its full potential. There are some bodyweight exercises available but for the most part, it’s built towards a gym and weight lifting. If you don’t have access to weights in a home gym you could still utilize the “nutrition” section of the app! It has some recommended meals you can make (or base your meal planning off of) depending on whether you’re looking to “build muscle” or “lean body.” If you want to fully use the nutrition section you’ll need to subscribe to the application for either $47.99 per year or $7.99 per month. The yearly subscription saves you about $3 per month! If you’re purely looking for nutrition-based workout apps then I wouldn’t highly recommend this one for just that. But if you have a home gym and want the full experience of explanations of workouts, charted progression, and nutrition then this is a great choice in terms of workout apps.

Workouts apps built towards counting calories that also consider workouts make great tools for any fitness journey. Whether you’re looking to lose weight or put on muscle, your diet is extremely important. You need to be eating the right things in the right portions to reach your goals as efficiently and quickly as possible. MyFitnessPal is a very popular calorie counter app for its many functions and features that allow it to be both precise and easy to use. It has a number of great features including a resource for recipes to try when looking to change up your diet. It also has preset “plans’ that you can choose based on your level of fitness and current fitness goals. The plan has a set of “tasks” that you try to complete through the day that will help you reach the goal of that set plan; for example: “Pick 5 fruits, 5 vegetables, and 2-3 pre or probiotic foods to eat throughout this plan.” This application is great when looking for workout apps that will help you set your nutrition and diet to help reach your fitness goals!

5. Shred: Home & Gym Workout (Apple & Android (Early Development))

The last of these workout apps is one that can work for either home (bodyweight) workouts or gym workouts! When starting it up for the first time you’ll set some conditions and one of those is whether you’re looking for gym or home workouts. Of course, if you have a home gym then you can choose gym! The app has several different choices you can make based on your desired fitness goals such as losing weight, bulking up, or getting SHREDed! There is a huge variety of workouts and fitness plans that really allow you to customize your workout experience. They even provide a “virtual” trainer that will push and motivate you! The app has a clean look and is really easy to navigate. Give it a try and you might just find yourself starting a whole new fitness journey.
