Great Organizing Apps For College Students

It’s almost that time again. Classes are starting up and before you know it you’ll be deep in deadlines, discussions, group work, brainstorming activities and final projects. How do you manage to keep up with all these dates in conjunction with your life outside of school; such as work, family, relationships, hobbies? With apps, duh! The good thing about technology is that for the most part it’s reliable. You can program it to work for you and keep you up to date. Well here are some great organizing apps for college students who need to keep track and keep from stressing. If you aren’t using these already, get on it!

Remember The Milk

Remember The Milk is an adorable app. With it’s cute cow and catch phrase. Get it? Don’t forget the milk when you’re headed home or shopping? Well this app has features to help you remember and organize things. After you sign up you can create a task calendar by adding things that you need to get done, right onto the interface. Most of the inputs are drop-down style which makes it easier to use. And once you input the due dates it organizes everything for you. It’s not limited to a particular topic, such as coursework. So you can keep track of every day tasks as well, like remembering the milk. It’s also cool if you have group work because you can share tasks with others by giving them permission to edit them. It’s really great for students when it comes to maintaining communication and collaborating efficiently. This is one of the best organizing apps!

myHomework

The MyHomework app is a really useful student planner. If you’re a detailed person you’ll like it even more because it allows you to organize college coursework by class. Actually if your school uses the app, you can connect through a search for your school and upload content that way. You can even connect with professors through it too. Worry not if your school is not listed, you can still use it for reminders and organization. Input all of your assignments, tasks, exams, meetings, everything and it organizes them for you by due date and level of importance. I personally have used this app throughout my entire degree. When the classes pile up on you and you get lost in which assignment you have to complete first, it really helps to keep you from tripping out. If you’re a college student taking even at least one course this app will be useful for you.

Dropbox

If you’re not using Dropbox by now, I have to ask, where have you been the past 4 years? Dropbox is like the ultimate storage for online content, for everyone. Even businesses use it. For students it’s handy because you can access whatever files you have stored on the cloud from anywhere so long as you have an internet connection. Simple and accessible. Don’t take my word for it though, because Dropbox has way more features than this that are definitely helpful to college students.

CliffsNotes

This particular app is geared towards a niche crowd. Specifically Lit majors make use of it because it’s a library of notes on Literature. It was put together “by teachers and professors for students as a supplement to their reading.” Understanding exactly what post industrial authors are trying to say in their stories can be tough, so thanks to these teachers for looking out for us! This app is definitely useful and can help you stay organized by keeping you on top of your studies. I’m going to use this one for my up-coming term because I’m gonna have a lot of reading to do.

EasyBib

EasyBib is another hack for college students. Use it to organize your essays and papers by getting bibliographies formulated for you. As students we’re constantly writing up citations and if you’re still doing this manually please stop. Like everything else, there’s an app for that (in this case a site)! On EasyBib.com you can input a website URL or just type in a title of a book and have it referenced for you. The site also has other features such as checking content for citations and unintended plagiarism. Teachers check for this stuff when you submit your work to them so why not just check yourself beforehand and make sure you’re good?

SelfControl

SelfControl is new to me and seems like something we could all put to use. However, it is a very hardcore app. What it does is keep you from being distracted. Don’t let the icon discourage you, this is a good thing. Especially if you have trouble focusing. You can gain major control over yourself and your studies by eliminating distractions such as social media, random off-topic web browsing, and emails, for a set period of time. This will definitely keep you on top as a college student if you use it properly. So go ahead and give this a try if you need it. This is one of the best organizing apps!

Colleging is tough enough as it is, but it’s getting easier with the help of sensible and personified tech. Put these organizing apps to work for you and keep yourself organized and ahead in life. Let me know in the comments if you tried these great organizing apps or what you think of them.
