Great Bonding Activities To Do With Your Significant Other

There are many great bonding activities you can do with your significant other to strengthen your relationship, continue building your bonds to each other, and genuinely connect with each other. To grow and deepen your relationship as well as to have some new, more interactive activities in your time with each other, here are some different suggestions to do together that are great new bonding material to try!

Question Games

A great new way to learn new things about each other in your relationship is finding a game platform to ask each other life and interests questions. You can learn different things you may not have known about each other or thought to ask about. You can end up learning unexpected things that deepen your knowledge and appreciation of each other.

There are many different variations and existing game formats for this bonding activity already. Some of these include the game Truth or Dare, Never Have I Ever, 21 Questions, and Would You Rather. You can do themed question games depending on how philosophical you want the questions and responding answers to be, or themes based on the types of information and topics you would like to focus on together, for example. If you prefer something tangible, the card game We’re Not Really Strangers is an inexpensive, great option for couples who want to get to know each other on a deeper level!

Never Done

Think about some of the things you have never done but would really love to do. Consider activities that are reasonably achievable in your area or region. Once you have come up with some ideas, for example, ice skating, snowboarding, lake swimming, rollerblading, or ax throwing, ask your significant other what some things are they have never done but have always desired.

This suggestion may take one or more days to plan ahead if any travel is involved, but doing bucket list items that are more easily crossed off can be a fantastic bonding activity to do together. At least one person, ideally both, are doing something completely different outside of their routine and element, and more interested and open to bonding and experiences as a result. These can be great date moments you’ll remember and maybe even a new favorite hobby.

New Food

What is a different type of food that one or both of you have never tried? Think of a dish or region that you have never experienced the tastes of. What is a location or travel place that gets one or both of you excited? You can turn these foods you have long wanted to try into a memorable restaurant or food date opportunity. The bonding can come from the new experiences of this, especially if any new or exciting environment or surroundings can come into play.

Great conversation can also result, and different related or chain questions based on the events and experiences. See also how you are able to turn your food date into an exciting environment experience as well. You can do this by making the types of food at home or doing a restaurant carry-out that you then take to a scenic romantic location for a picnic. Making the dishes at home can also be an active way to experience the new foods and their preparation together as you work to make them as a team.

Walks

Walking together in an open space outdoors gives a great opportunity for conversation and relation with significantly less distraction from each other and your bonding. Walks at different locations can also be a fantastic way to add interest and new experience to your bonding activity as you travel and explore a new natural landscape together. With exercise put into the mix, the endorphins felt will only add to your enjoyment of the activity and your time with one another.

Hikes can be interesting for the scenery and any dogs that either or you may have will also love this suggestion as you are able to bond with the pet or pets together as well. You will all enjoy the fresh air and new environment to break up the routine no matter where you go. This suggestion is also a great bonding activity to de-stress and detox together. There is also much romantic opportunity as you hold hands and maybe even get lucky and are able to watch another beautiful sunset together.

Workouts

Another way to stay active while doing a bonding activity together is to try any of the numerous great workout moves and routines that are out there. Try a new workout video together and learn the techniques together. You can also do some different types and variations of yoga, at-home boxing, or light wrestling, (unless you’re more experienced).

A way to add in the outdoors to your bonding exercise activity is to turn your couple’s workout into a jog or run outdoors. Doing your yoga outside can also be very picturesque and a lovely way to wake up in the morning and experience the beginnings of the day together. De-stressing and relaxing together are key bonding activities you should definitely try and see what works for your unique dynamic.

Art Projects

You can engage the artistic sides of both of you by doing a household art project together. Try sewing, knitting, building a birdhouse, making a new piece of wall art, or drawing together. Any of these can turn into opportunities for questions and conversation about your own experiences these activities bring to mind. What is an artistic thing you or your significant other have been wanting to try and might you be able to achieve this, even with just a little planning and preparation?

You can also make different pieces of art for each other or both of you that are more directly romantic and bonding in nature. What are some quotes, phrases, or your own words that have meant or could mean a lot to the other person, and how could you turn that into a beautiful art piece? Disregard any misgivings if you don’t have what you believe to be sufficient artistic talent because a gift from a significant other is going to be well-received and beloved for its well-intent and from-the-heart nature.

Other Activities

Any other interests either of you possess can easily be turned into a great bonding activity, including making and/or playing music together if either or both of you are musically interested or inclined. You can do a writing or reading activity including writing love letters and giving them to one another, writing poetry together or for one another, and/or reading poetry or a book together. You can also bond by doing similar activities while snuggling or remaining physically close such as reading in bed.

Great bonding activities bring interest, questions, and new conversation into an experience you share. When you are doing things together that are as diverse in nature as your interests and unique relationship, you are doing some great bonding. What bonding activities have you tried and what did you think of these suggestions? Let us know in the comments!
