GIFS That Accurately Describe Being A Student At Emerson College

If you’re a student at Emerson College, then chances are that you’re going to be able to relate to at least some of these GIFs.

How It Feels Walking Past Walker Building

If you are familiar with Emerson’s downtown Boston campus, you will relate to this gif. Anytime you are trying to walk past Walker building (which is probably everyday), you are confronted with the smell of cigarette smoke. Here’s to hoping we all don’t die of lung cancer!

When someone asks you what the tip on a bill is

It’s a known fact that Emerson isn’t known for it’s mathematicians. That being said, many students face the anxiety of doing everyday math because they haven’t studied it since high school. How do you calculate a 20% tip again?

When your hair starts falling out from the amount of dye you applied

Dying hair is the norm at Emerson. You will see a variety of colored heads walking down Boylston, but it’s unlikely you see the hair falling out of their scalp in the shower.

Falling asleep in class

It’s hard to get through your 10 a.m. public speaking class without falling asleep. Emerson students know that most of those liberal arts requirement classes are snooze-inducing, but are stuck at a moral dilemma when they think of how much money they are wasting by sleeping through the hour and a half.

When you are trying to eat some broccoli and you accidentally eat a maggot

It takes a lot to try to eat healthy at Emerson, but when you decide to skip the chicken tenders and go for broccoli, chances are you will find some kind vomit-inducing reason not to. I guess we’ll stick to curly fries for every meal.

Stop screaming

Some students at Emerson are known for being a little bit… enthusiastic. Some people love it, while others (mostly those who were not involved in musical theater during their high school years) just want to say “stop screaming!”

I’m poor

With an ever-increasing tuition, it’s hard to spend extra money without feeling anxious. One phrase you will often hear around campus is “I’m poor,” even though most students came from an upper middle class family.

When Lee Pelton buys another building and tries to convince you that it’s for a good reason

It’s just another day at Emerson when you hear that Lee Pelton bought another building. Whether it’s for a giant projector project, or to build a whole new dining hall, just know that it’s probably gonna cost you.

White people

For a school that’s so liberal-minded, we really lack a sense of inclusiveness for all races. It’s mostly white people here at Emerson, but you will often hear people joke about it rather than actually do something to change it.

I’m a mess

I’m pretty sure this one applies to all college students, not just being a student at Emerson, because it’s pretty relatable all around.
