18 Game Day Finger Foods Perfect For Your Football Party

Game day finger foods can add a dash of flavor to your next football party! Then, finally, the day has arrived! The decorations have been set up, the drinks are ready, the volume on the TV has been turned up to MAX. The day of the football game has arrived. But what to eat? Here is a list of game day finger foods to choose from for those that need a little inspiration on what to eat and serve.

1. MINI CORN DOGS

Fit for all ages, mini corn dogs are a good snack that are welcome at any party. The best part about them is that they’re easy enough to warm in the microwave or the oven, and they come in bulk from a variety of stores.

2. MOZZARELLA CHEESE STICKS

A great appetizer before the main course, and one of the items that you can either make yourself or buy in stores. Either way, a lot of people will want to eat it, so make sure you have plenty for everyone. And have some marinara sauce on hand; while I personally prefer ‘mozzie sticks’ on their own, the majority of people prefer marinara sauce.

3. CHICKEN WINGS

A staple of any casual get-together, chicken wings can satisfy a large number of people thanks to the variety of flavors they come in. If you’re preparing for the game day party ahead of time, try to see what kind of chicken wings and dipping sauces people want. BBQ is always a popular flavor, and some people prefer boneless wings over regular.

4. BOILED SHRIMP

An uncommon game day finger food, from what I understand, but a welcome one all the same. Having some boiled shrimp at your party is a good way to include some variety with your selections, filing out the fish section of the food pyramid.

5. SLIDERS A.K.A TINY HAMBURGERS

Honestly, need I explain this decision? With hamburgers being as American as football itself, sliders would be a welcome game day finger food just about everywhere within the United States. A good strategy for game day is to have a ‘Make-It-Yourself-Station,’ where your guests can construct their own sliders.

6. TRAYS TRAYS TRAYS

One of the party options that seems be less and less popular over recent years, a party tray is just as popular and useful as it was years and years ago, back when your grandparents were entertaining guests. Not only does a party tray of finger foods look stylish, it can be anything. Fruits, cheeses, sweets. Maybe even experiment, make your party tray something that will be remembered by your guests. Just make sure you have more than one handy.

7. HARD BOILED EGGS

A classic game day finger food, hard boiled eggs are a versatile foodstuff that you can season and present in any number of ways. They can serve as a great compliment to some of the heavier items on this list.

8. POTATO CHIPS

What buffet table of game day finger foods would be complete without a big bowl of potato chips? Fritos, Lays, Pringles, Ruffles, etc. You have a wide array of options to choose from. Just be extra careful, as it’s often the case that the chips are often the first to disappear. With the right bowl of dip, whether it be salsa or something else entirely, you have one part of or your party safely under control.

9. FRENCH FRIES

A favorite of mine, as well as many others, french fires may considered more junk food than game day finger food, but they are a viable option all the same. Coming in a variety of styles, from thick wedges to waffle, they can be bought in bulk from most stores, or you can go the extra mile and fry them yourself.

10. TINY PIZZAS

What party wouldn’t be complete without pizza? And everyone knows the tiny pizzas are almost as popular as regular sized ones. A big hit with kids, these are perfect game day finger foods for the younger crowd. Again, you can make these yourself, or purchase some ready-made ones from the local grocery store.

11. PRETZEL & PRETZEL STICKS

Another personal favorite of mine, pretzel sticks, whether they be the small, thin ones or the large, thick ones are a welcome snack by anyone attending the party. And you can just as easily use regular pretzels. But like all snacks, you have to be sure you plenty of spare bags should you run out, and plenty of beverages – salty snacks equal thirsty guests.

12. RICE KRISPIES TREATS

The perfect game day finger food for the kids, Rice Krispies Treats are a versatile snack. Once again, you can just as easily buy them at the local grocery store, but you can make them yourself and decorate them however you like. That would definitely leave an impact on your guests.

13. JALAPENO POPPERS

By far the spiciest entry on this list, a good plate of jalapeño poppers can entice the more adventurous or daring guests in your party. Coming in a variety of recipes, including bacon-wrapped and roasted, stuffed with both cheddar and cream cheese, these game day finger foods are especially popular down south. Want to bring some southern charm to a football game in the north? These are the foodstuffs for you.

14. STUFFED MUSHROOMS

Definitely one of the more intimidating game day finger foods on this list, stuffed mushrooms are difficult to make, but the payoff for having them on your buffet table is well worth it. You can stuff them with bacon, cheese, turkey, all manner of foodstuffs. Have these for some of the more cultured eaters at your party. They’ll love them.

15. CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES

A nice desert to top off the afternoon’s festivities, chocolate covered strawberries are a sweet delicacy that many enjoy. Simple yet elegant, a great way to entertain others is to have a chocolate fountain and have a small plate of strawberries on hand for others to do the dipping, much like our next entry. Involving your guests in their food preparation allows for some good times.

16. COCKTAIL WIENERS & FONDUE

An entree that can be seen as sophisticated just as much as it is fun, this game day finger food can be fun for the kids and filling for the adults. Depending on the fondue involved, you could have something set aside for the kids, and another fondue pot filled with something more mature set aside for the adults.

17. FINGER RIBS

A great game day finger food, finger ribs can serve as the perfect main course for the meal. While messy, they’re just the kind of thing people would welcome while the game is going on in the background.

18. COOKIES

You heard me. Juvenile though it may seem, having a tray of cookies can satisfy your guests just as easily as having some sliders or mini-pizzas or chocolate-covered strawberries. The best part is, they can be anything. Oreos, chocolate chip, macaroons, sugar cookies. There are so many different types of cookies, you could just as easily have a tray of them in addition to fruits and cheeses.

These are only a small number of the game day finger foods you can have to entertain your guests. Have these at your game day party, and you’ll be lauded as an excellent host. And there are many more finger foods out there. Tell us about them below!
