10 Fun Ways To Inject Colour Into Your Wardrobe

When black is always so flattering, it can be easy to end up with a wardrobe completely devoid of colour. Here are ten fun ways to inject some colour into your wardrobe!

1. Scarves

Scarves are no longer just for keeping warm in the winter. These days, scarves come in a variety of fabrics to suit any weather – and they have some fantastic patterns! Whether you wrap it around your neck or drape it over your arms like you are going to a movie premiere, a scarf is guaranteed to add some much needed colour to your outfit.

2. Belts

Remember the chunky belt craze from the mid-00s? It is time to bring that back! Nothing spices up an outfit more than a bold belt. This is perfect for when you want a professional outfit for a job interview but still want to stand out. Throw on a bright red belt and the interviewers will definitely notice you.

3. Hair Accessories

Hair accessories are a great way to add colour to your outfit, and there are plenty of options to choose from. If you have longer hair, a thick solid-colour headband is perfect for adding some edge to your hair-do and for keeping it out of your face. For shorter hair, a sparkly clasp or clip in flower is exactly what you need to complete your look. Don’t forget that, no matter your hairstyle, a large scrunchy will always add that little bit of flair.

4. Shoes

All-black outfits with a pair of brightly coloured stilettos is definitely the look everyone is going for right now. Have a look at any celebrity fashion review and you will see exactly that. If stilettos are not your thing, though, there are other options available to you. Rose gold trainers are popular at the moment and will compliment an all-white outfit perfectly, whilst patterned boots will work with pretty much any ensemble.

5. Ties

You probably have not touched a tie since you were at secondary school, but they are a great way to add a dose of colour to a look. Whether it is a classic formal tie, a bow-tie, or a neckerchief, there are loads of really nice ties on the market right now which will give your outfit a classy edge. Jameela Jamil and Victoria Justice have both been seen recently rocking ties. If they can do it, so can you!

6. Knee High Socks

If you love skirts and shorts, then this is a fantastic way to add some flavour to your wardrobe. Most knee-high socks come in bold colours with impressive patterns which will make everyone stop and stare. Pair them with a cute pair of heels or some baseball boots and you will have achieved the perfect sporty gym vibe.

7. Gloves

Just like scarves, gloves are not exclusively for winter. A pair of leather or PVC gloves will give you that classic femme fatale look. Pair them with a little black dress or a thick faux-fur coat and people will think you walked straight out of a 1920s film noir. Of course, if it is getting cooler where you are, a pair of wool gloves in a pastel shade will immediately make you feel cosy on the inside and look adorable on the outside.

8. Chunky Jewellery

Nothing adds more fun to an outfit than some chunky jewellery in a bold colour. Grab some necklaces with large stones and some thick bangles or bracelets and your look will immediately feel so much more fresh and fun. For some extra sparkle, look for a costume jewellery ring with the largest stone you can find. This will ensure people take notice of you.

9. Stockings

When people think about tights, they have visions of flesh coloured stockings and black fishnets – but these are far from being the only tights on the market right now. These days, you can get tights in pretty much every colour under the sun including fuschia, bright yellow, and neon green. It should be possible to buy a pair of tights to match every outfit – so why don’t you?

10. Cover-up Dresses

Summer may be winding down but that is no reason to throw out your swimsuit cover-up dresses. These versatile dresses can be worn with pretty much anything and are sure to make you stand out. Whilst some come in plain colours, others have impressive patterns which will add a bohemian flair to your outfit that is perfect for autumn.
