15 Fun Makeup Looks To Try If You’re Bored In Quarantine
With all the time that we’ve had on our hands during quarantine, why not use that time to try something different? If you are a makeup enthusiast (or even makeup beginner!), use your extra time to try out these fun and crazy makeup looks to help keep you busy and entertained during quarantine!
1.) Halo Eyes
Halo eyes are a type of eyeshadow look that have become an online trend among the beauty community throughout the past few years. This is an eyeshadow technique that uses hard angles and strategic placement of glitter eyeshadow in order to achieve the appearance of large, round and bright eyes. This look is all about contrast and drama, and usually involves a shimmery light color being carefully packed onto a darker matte base. The color combo is up to you, but a classic look is to pack gold shimmer on top of a striking burgundy base. To achieve this look, start off by priming your eyes with an eyeshadow primer to make sure the shadow stays all day. Then, carefully layer your bottom base by blending a warm, light color into your crease. After your crease is defined, blend a darker matte color into your inner and outer corners, using round circular motions that sweep upwards to help define your natural eye shape. Make sure the two color are blended neatly and evenly, before you pack on the glitter to the center of your lid. To make the glitter “pop” even more, add a small dab of concealer on the center of your eyelid, gently spread it over the center of your lid before packing the glitter on top. The concealer will help the glitter stay in place, and will help maximize its shine to achieve the full “halo” effect. Master this look in quarantine so you can rock it outside once quarantine ends!
2.) Mermaid Makeup
This striking look is easy to achieve and fun to do! Plus, it might be a great makeup idea for a future Halloween event! All you need are a pair of fishnet tights, and green and blue glittery eyeshadow. TO achieve this look, take a pair of fishnet tights that you don’t care about and cut off the legs. Now this step sounds weird, but bear with me, there is a method to the madness: slide the fishnet over your head and pull it down until it covers your face, because the fishnets are going to act as a stencil to achieve a realistic scale look. Where you apply your scales is up to you, but ideas are around your temples, cheek bones and neck. Before you start applying your eyeshadow, wet the skin along your desired application areas, or apply a spritz of setting spray. This will really make sure that you eyeshadow stands out as much as possible. Then, using an eyeshadow brush, pat a bright blue eyeshadow into the holes of the netting. Next, you’re going to pat a shimmery green eyeshadow over the blue. The combination of blue and green shimmer will give you major “Little Mermaid” vibes. Once you’re finished applying your scales, dust a powder on top to make them glisten and help them stay in place. Finally, carefully remove the tights to reveal perfectly formed scales! To really complete the look, consider a bright eyeshadow look with blue or green eyeshadow.
3.) Skull Makeup
Another great Halloween look that you can practice during quarantine! This look is a bit complex, but with some time and patience, you’ll be sure to have it nailed in no time. The first step is to grab white face paint, and use a flat foundation brush to apply it over your face (including over your lips), leaving the under-eye area bare. Use an eyeliner brush to create a clear outline over the borders of the white face paint, then fill in your nose and outline your eye sockets. Then, using a small brush, apply black face paint to define the hollows of your cheek bone, then draw a line from the corner of your mouth to the middle of your cheeks to be used as a base for the skeleton teeth. With the same brush, paint thin black lines over that line, from the bottom of your nose down to the middle of your chin across. Keep painting these lines across (there will be 17 in total) across that line and over your mouth. Then, start sketching in teeth, occasionally shading them in with black eyeshadow so they look defined and realistic. Keep drawing, shading and blending until you’re happy with how it looks! You can even use an eyeliner brush to draw tiny cracks at the bottom of your chin to give the illusion of cracked bone. This look is spooky and scary but surely instagram-worthy!
4.)Pop Art Makeup
This look is fun, adorable, and super easy to master! A fun look inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s pop-art movement, this look will have you look like you just walked out of a comic strip. For the eyes, go dark and bold with an intense winged eyeliner, and false eyelashes. Fill in your blows to make them a solid black (I know it sounds scary, but trust me, it’ll come all together in the end). Then, using an eyeliner pencil, draw thin black lines along your cheekbones, nose and chin to give you a cartoon expression. Draw fake eyelashes beneath your eyes. Finish off by applying red lipstick, outline them with black eyeliner, and paint a white square in the corner of your lips to give the illusion of a reflection.
5.) Ombre Lips
The ombre lip is another trending instagram look that is essentially a gradient of one color, that transitions from light in the center of your lips to dark on the corners of your lips. The easiest way to do this is to line your lips with a dark color, then apply the same dark color on the corner of your lips, and a lighter version of the color on the center of your lips. Then use an eyeshadow brush to blend them together to form a striking gradient. Once finished, apply a light layer of powder to make the color matte.
6.) Illusion Makeup
If you’re feeling bold and adventurous, try an illusion look! You can achieve a dramatic and realistic illusion look by having the right combination of makeup, lighting and the right background. Whether you want to make yourself look like a skeleton or a floating head, all you need is some time and imagination to practice a makeup illusion that will leave your friends speechless!
7.) Cat Eyes

Use quarantine as an excuse to experiment with different shades and different smokey eye looks!
