10 Free Things To Do Around Rochester Institute Of Technology
There are a lot of fun things to do around RIT’s campus throughout the academic year. From the beginning of your semester, you will see the diverse assortment of entertaining and engaging events from the College Activities Board (CAB) at RIT campus. The Center for Campus Life is also encouraging RIT students to check out the events from student clubs, organizations, chapters, and groups. 1. Thursday Night Cinema
Thursday Night Cinema is the best place for you take a break from studying. You can see the hot new movies every Thursday at 9:00 pm in Ingle Auditorium. Movies are free and open to the public. Have a seat, relax, and enjoy the show!
2. Friday Night Live
If live music is your jam, you’ll love the display here in RIT. Friday Night Live provides on campus excitement for Friday nights such as live music, dancing, etc. No matter what style of music gets you moving, there’s plenty of room for dancing and enjoying catching up with friends.
3. Blood Drive
You can help the Red Cross to make a difference. Donate to help hospital patients in need. You could save a person’s life with just one donation, and you will be that someone’s hero. Come on and stop by the Fireside Lounge to donate!
4. RIT Tiger Dent Events
It’s time to show your school spirit! Get to the game and support your RIT athletics with Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Centre for Campus Life through Tiger Den events. SAAC and the Center for Campus Life are team up to support RIT Athletics and build school spirit through every Tiger Den event. You know that food and swag are free, what more could you wish for? Then get to the game and support your Tigers to show your school pride.
5. RITchie’s Game Room
Come and play the game at RITchie’s Game Room in the tunnels under Gibson Hall where students can get together to play billiards, ping-pong, air hockey, foosball, and video games. You can also watch your favorite shows and movies on large screen television or enjoy listening to music.
6. No Voice Zone
No Voice Zone is a great opportunity for students to learn American Sign Language every Wednesday night from 10-11 pm in the SDC 1300-1310. If you are interested in learning ASL and about Deaf culture from student teachers and coordinators, this is the event for you. Every week has a different theme and signs to learn. And, there are special events throughout the year including a Halloween Party, Valentine’s Day, Easter’s Day and more.
7. University Gallery
The University Gallery at RIT showcases RIT’s extensive archives. The Vignelli Center for Design Studies archives, works with regional artists and designers. It is a unique venue to host events for both large and intimate gatherings and offer free dinner, luncheon, reception, and more. Come on and look around the exhibition.
8. NTID Performing Arts
Keep your eyes out for new updates. Some of the events are free and offer you a comfy seat to enjoy the performance shows. The surrounding atmosphere is both pleasant and relaxing.
9. CAB Special Events
The CAB Special Events push you to get out of your room and join us for laser tag, trivia, bingo, comedians, guest speakers and more.
10. Join the Leadership Certificate Program
You can catch this exceptional opportunity to learn about significant leadership skills and also practice these skills for more education opportunities down the road. You can apply for the leadership certificate program, it takes up to two years to complete the requirements.
It’s never difficult to find something to do at RIT, and most of the time it does not require spending a dime! Remember your student card for most of these to get free admission.
