Summer in Atlanta means lots of fun festivals and events but they can be super expensive. If you’re ballin’ on a budget, here are 12 free activities and events that you can go to in Atlanta this summer!
Chastain park is such a beautiful place that’s in the Buckhead area. On May 11th and 12th they’re having their annual arts festival where there will be food, vendors, and of course art too! If you’ve never been to Chastain park, you definitely need to go to this festival and experience it!
The Sweet Auburn Springfest is one of the most loved celebrations in Atlanta. Located in a beautiful historic part of town, this festival has art food and a zip wire! If you’re going to go to an arts festival, definitely prioritize this one this summer!
Also located in the Sweet Auburn area, this free historical walking tour is a great way to learn more about the history of Atlanta and how the city has become the place that we know and love today. The tours will be going on between May 10 and 12th so you can hit up the springfest and the walking tour in the same excursion!
Do you want to learn how to salsa dance? Now you can learn for free at Eclipse Di Luna’s salsa nights, which they have every week so you can go at any time this summer. This cool Latin restaurant is in Buckhead close to many other restaurants and bars so you can start off your night there!
Doing yoga is great for your mind and body, but doing yoga outside is even better. Every Saturday in Woodruff Park you can go to an hour long free yoga lesson at 9 AM. While that may sound early, it’s better to do yoga in the morning before it gets to hot so tap into your inner early bird and check it out!
Did someone say free wine? The Gifted Ferret is hosting artisan wine tasting every Saturday from 6-8 pm at their location in the historic Woodstock town! You are encouraged to buy a bottle but the event is free. Historic Woodstock is so cute too so you’ll love exploring the area!
Downtown Decatur is definitely one of the most hipster areas in Atlanta to check out, so make sure you go to the arts festival in downtown Decatur on May 25th and 26th! The square is a great place to chill and hang out and the festival will have live music and art, making it a perfect thing to do on a beautiful summer weekend.
If you’re into houses and home decor, you need to check out the Kirkwood home tours from May 18th to the 19th. Located near downtown and Edgewood, Kirkwood is such a cool part of Atlanta that has a lot of beautiful and historic homes to see so you’ll definitely love experiencing a new part of the city!
Every cool neighborhood in Atlanta has a summer fest, and Virginia Highlands is no exception! They’re having their annual bash on June 1st and 2nd so definitely put this one down in your calendar. There will be art stalls and food, but it will be just as fun to walk around the beautiful Virginia Highlands area!
Need a place to see the fireworks? Spend your 4th of July in the Old 4th Ward this year! You’ll not only have an amazing view of the fireworks, but you’ll be able to see the city as well. This is such a great location to view the fireworks because midtown and downtown are so close by so you can go out afterwards!
Who wouldn’t want to go to an ice cream festival? This perfect summer activity is free and happening in Piedmont Park on July 27th. There will be lots of free ice cream but also many ice cream related activities too. Put this on your calendar so you don’t miss out!
