Foundations are an essential start to any makeup routine. Simply put, a girl’s best friend. However, if you are anything like me, your pores can become clogged and congested. That’s OK because we have 10 foundations that are compatible with easily clogged pores!
The keyword here is non-comedogenic. That fancy word just means that the product and ingredients are not meant to clog pores, and will help with coverage and not with breaking you out. There are a lot of foundations that claim ‘won’t clog pores’, and then with a thick residue on your skin, your acne says otherwise. Luckily, brands like Origins offer lightweight coverage, allowing your pores to breathe, limiting the chances of breaking out. You can shop this product online directly through the Origins website, or head to your local Macy’s. There are plenty of shades to choose from, and this foundation is a little less than $40.00.
When it comes to lightweight foundation, you want to let your skin breathe. This product has the best of both worlds, giving you that full coverage for as long as 12 hours, and the built-in SPF will help protect against sun damage or making the appearance of acne and redness worse. Even though SPF is not a super important quality in a foundation, it is important to find something with SPF in it because think of how many times while driving you are by a window, and the sun coming in can have a direct impact on your skin, believe it or not. This foundation is $38.00 at your local Sephora.
Sticking with the same brand, Tarte foundation offers a great selection of clean products with natural ingredients. The more that is added to your foundation, the more likely you are to break out, and that is why I recommend the brand Tarte. I even bought their foundation for my senior high school prom, and it adhered to my skin perfectly. Around $40.00 may not be ideal, but the product will last you at least 2 months.
With a name like ‘healthy skin’, who can resist buying this foundation? Neutrogena is formulated with natural ingredients and hydrating properties, that won’t clog pores. In addition, Neutrogena is sold almost everywhere, and for $15.00 or less!
Lancome is a pretty fancy name but with this oil-free foundation, and 24 hours long-lasting coverage, you’ll conceal blemishes as well as protect them. Lightweight formula combined with oil-free and fragrance-free, your skin will thank you later! Available in plenty of shades, it can’t hurt to give a different skincare brand a chance.
SPF 15, Clinique is a very top brand when it comes to skincare and makeup. Not to mention, when you go to a makeup counter in Macy’s, a lot of times they will offer a free gift with purchase. Clinique is always coming out with different formulas for foundation but with the ‘even better makeup’, it is specially designed to help with breakouts as well as dermatologist developed. Providing a medium to full coverage, this foundation will offer up to 24 hours of coverage.
Maybelline is affordable, popular, and who can resist the gorgeous models representing the brand? I started wearing ‘Maybelline Fit Me’ in 8th grade, just as I started to wear makeup. It is a great foundation and pretty decent coverage, they also make a powder to go over the liquid finish. With so many shades to choose from, you won’t have to worry about your skin tone not matching. This product will cost you under $15.00, and that has to mean something!
Glossier is a little bit tricky to find in local retail stores, but depending on where you live in the country, Sephora may carry it. You can always order it online, as well. This foundation is compatible with all skin types, helps decrease pore size, hydrate, and offers 12 hours of coverage. What a steal! Glossier is a fairly new brand, but it is definitely worth checking into.
When it comes to foundations, every company and every brand is going to claim that their product is the best. It can be hard to decide which one is a marketing ploy, and which product is worth investing in. When it comes to brands like MAC, their worth every penny. I once got some concealer from them years ago, and it covered my blemish perfectly. MAC is sold individually at Macy’s, or certain products are sold at stores like Sephora. This foundation is lightweight and buildable, providing medium coverage. With so many shades to choose from, this foundation is a best seller and has SPF 15, so you can even wear it outside in the sun!
Last, but not least, Estee Lauder has been my only choice of foundations for over 3 years. I woke up one day with my acne suddenly worse, and I was instantly horrified. I ran to my nearest Macy’s, and the employees at the counter casually explained that this foundation was #1 in the world at the time. I can vouch for this brand by saying it is over 12 hours of coverage, and there is a shade for every skin tone. The best thing about Estee Lauder is their products hold their value very well, and at Macy’s, they will run a free gift with purchase every few months or so. When you go to pick up your favorite makeup, you get some extra gifts too! The price of this foundation is $39.00, but worth every penny.
