2. The Great British Bake Off (2010 – present)
This may be one of the best and most loved reality cooking shows. It has been credited with creating a great interest in baking in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Each week there is a different theme ranging from ‘bread’ to ‘European cakes’. A group of amateur bakers participate in three challenges (a signature bake, a technical challenge and a show-stopper) based on the week’s theme to be crowned the ‘Star Baker’. 3. Chef’s Table (2015 – present)
Chef’s Table was one of Netflix’s first original documentary series. Each episode follows the lives of one of the world’s most famous chefs. It takes you to into the mind of the professional chef working in some of the best restaurants in the world. This series takes you as close as you can be to the restaurant without physically being there. The very first episode follows Massimo Bottura of Osteria Francescana, crowned the best restaurant in the world in 2018.
4. Street Food (2019)
Street Food is a contrast to many of the food shows currently available focusing on the food of fine dining establishments around the world. Street Food is just what the title suggests, exploring the street food of many different cultures. It focuses on the roadside stands and markets only locals would know and eat at daily. Each episode explores the street food in different cities. In the first season, it explores the street food of different Asian cities.
5. Ugly Delicious (2018 – current)
David Chang and his long-time collaborator Peter Meehan have come together to explore food. Ugly Delicious looks at different dishes or a type of dish. The history of each dish and what has made it what it is today. His first season includes exploring fried chicken, pizza, fried rice, stuffed and BBQ. Chang speaks about food with love and passion. Each episode has the bonus of celebrities to join him at the table to discuss these dishes including Jimmy Kimmel, Steven Yeun and Aziz Ansari.
