10 Film Characters We Wish We Could Date

Fictional characters are what makes a lot of people upset, because they are not real. Sometimes we want to be best friends with them and other times we see ourselves in them. Most of the time we just want to date them.

Here is a list of 10 film characters we wish we could date!

1. Mark Darcy

Played By: Colin Firth

Film: Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)

This one needs no introduction, because while Bridget (Renee Zellweger) was pining over her arrogant boss, we were falling in love with Mark Darcy. He’s kind, honest and extremely lovable.

“But the thing is, um, what I’m trying to say, very inarticulately, is that, um, in fact, perhaps despite appearances, I like you, very much. Just as you are.”

2. Rick Blaine

Played By: Humphrey Bogart

Film: Casablanca (1942)

A man as loyal as Rick Blaine, who has loved a woman through thick and thin for all these years, and willing to die for her? If that’s not boyfriend material, then nothing is. It helps that he’s charming, too.

“Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine.”

3. Tim Lake

Played By: Domhnall Gleeson

Film: About Time (2013)

A dorky, tall and lanky man whose smile could light up entire cities. Tim Lake was so hopelessly in love that he would mess with time to be with the woman of his dreams. That’s dedication.

“Lesson Number One: All the time traveling in the world can’t make someone love you.”

4. Elle Woods

Played By: Reese Witherspoon

Film: Legally Blonde (2001)

Elle Woods has one of the best character developments of any person in cinema history. Film characters could learn something from her. She got into Harvard Law and realized that she doesn’t need someone’s validation to be happy. Confidence looks sexy on Miss Woods.

“But if I’m going to be a partner in a law firm by the time I’m 30, I need a boyfriend who’s not such a complete bonehead.”

5. Robert Kincaid

Played By: Clint Eastwood

Film: The Bridges Of Madison County (1995)

A love story like no other is worse when the film characters are star-crossed lovers. When the love is that strong and pure, you’ll do anything to even enjoy one night with them. The worst is having to go back to your life and pretend like it never happened.

The forbidden affair that Robert and Francesca (Meryl Streep) followed through on is just an example of how Robert Kincaid is one attractive film character. Because he knows that sometimes love means risking it all.

“I don’t want to need you, ’cause I can’t have you.”

6. Jesse Wallace

Played By: Ethan Hawke

Film: Before Sunrise (1995)

Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight, a trilogy like no other where the film characters have stayed the same. Spanning multiple years, Jesse Wallace taught us that humans err and we need to grow from them.

A man who realizes what an instant connection means and how it doesn’t happen often.

“Let’s see each other again.”

7. Gerry Kennedy

Played By: Gerard Butler

Film: P.S. I Love You (2007)

A film character who is dead for most of the film strikes you harder in your heart, because you realize that it usually is the good ones who are gone too soon. A hopeless romantic who is still infatuated with his wife even in the afterlife, we want a love like that.

“You made my life, Holly. But I’m just one chapter in yours. There’ll be more. I promise. So here it comes, the big one. Don’t be afraid to fall in love again. Watch out for that signal, when life as you know it ends. P.S. I will always love you.”

8. Harper Moore

Played By: Zoey Deutch

Film: Set It Up (2018)

We are obsessed with film characters who are cute and dorky, but are also insanely motivated! A girl who loves pizza, is dedicated to her job and funny as hell? Sign us up for Harper Moore, because she’s one in a million.

“Of course your first draft is going to be bad. It’s gonna be terrible. Then you know what you do, Harper? You go back and you make it better. But you can’t make it better until you actually do it.”

9. Tristan Ludlow

Played By: Brad Pitt

Film: Legends Of The Fall (1994)

Picture this: golden locks of luscious hair and a film character who pouts a lot when he’s on screen. Brad Pitt’s tortured character, Tristan Ludlow, is a born romantic whose life does not go his way. But, he still remains hopeful.

“I thought Tristan would never live to be an old man. I was wrong about that. I was wrong about many things. It was those who loved him most who died young. He was a rock they broke themselves against however much he tried to protect them.”

10. Andie Anderson

Played By: Kate Hudson

Film: How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days (2003)

Andie Anderson is MY president! Although she plays a dangerous game in order to write her feature, she does it with glamour, humor and unbelievable sexiness. An ice queen whose defenses come crashing down when she meets the right one.

And during one of the last scenes? When she has that backless golden dress on? *chef’s kiss*

“You can’t lose something you never had.”

There are many more film characters we wish we could date, but we want to hear from you!
