15 Filling Snacks To Eat If You’re Always Hungry

Snacking is a constant for some, and those calories add up fast when you're not full! Try these filling snacks to make your quick fix last.

Some people eat three large meals a day. Others eat six small meals a day. I eat six extra large meals a day. I’m literally always hungry, which means I’m literally always eating. You can’t catch me without snacking on some popcorn or something. The hard thing about always being hungry is that I don’t want to take 30 minutes to cook everytime I eat. So that leaves me to eat a bunch of quick snacks, which aren’t always very healthy. It can be extremely hard not to always reach for a bag of chips whenever I have a snack attack. When I do actually eat semi-healthy, these are the 15 filling snacks that keep me full for as long as possible (AKA one hour until I need my next one).

1. Avocado Toast

I know, I know, it’s basic! But of course, something that tastes so good is so popular. If you’re feeling extra hungry, fry up an egg and put that on the toast too.

2. Veggies and Hummus

I could eat this forever and a day! It’s great because it never gets old. There are so many different flavors of hummus – they even have dessert hummus – that you won’t get tired of it. Plus, the possibilities for the veggies are endless! Carrots, edamame, celery, bell peppers…the list just keeps on going.

3. Smoothies

Smoothies are perfect for the summer because you can whip up a nice fruity and refreshing mix any time! We even have an article with some delicious smoothies for you to try next time you’re craving one!

4. Yogurt and Granola

Typically yogurt isn’t enough to keep me full for long. But by sprinkling on some granola I’ll be set for hours! My favorite is strawberry yogurt with honey and oats granola.

5. Oatmeal

If you want to add this to the healthy filling snacks list, make sure you don’t go with Quaker Instant oatmeal packs. Those things are filled with sugar. To make it healthier, get plain oatmeal and then add your own toppings later! Honey, nuts and fresh fruit are always a go-to for me.

6. Mixed Nuts

These are great if you ever feel like mindlessly snacking in front of the TV. Swap chips for mixed nuts and you’ll lose all the guilt you would’ve had from eating an entire bag of Doritos in one sitting!

7. Ants on a Log

I don’t care if this is a childish snack, it’s delicious! I personally don’t care for peanut butter, so I mix things up a bit and use almond butter instead. It gives it a sweeter taste that I love.

8. Quesadilla

These are so fast and easy to make if you’re craving some Mexican food. Just fry it up in a skillet, add your favorite toppings like beans, chicken and vegetables and you’re good to go! Finish it all off with some salsa and enjoy.

9. Cheese and Crackers

Here’s another classic snack that never gets old. If you want to give it a refresh try getting a funky flavored cracker and splurge on some fancy cheese. Then this after-school snack will get a tasty twist!

10. Fresh Fruit

There’s nothing like eating a ripe juicy peach in the summer. When a fruit is in season there are no better filling snacks to have! It’s like eating candy with none of the sugar or cavities.

11. Parfait

Another way to enjoy your fresh fruit is by making a parfait. Just layer up your favorite summer fruits with some yogurt and enjoy the creation.

12. Protein Balls

These are great little snacks that will last a long time once you make them. Here’s a super easy no-bake recipe:

⅔ cup creamy peanut butter
½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup old-fashioned oats
½ cup ground flax seeds
2 tablespoons honey

Then combine the ingredients, store the mixture in the refrigerator for 20 minutes and then roll them into balls. This recipe should make 12 bites that can last up to a week!

13. Roasted Broccoli

These should be a staple in everyone’s cooking repertoire. Whether you make this for a snack or a side dish to a meal, you can’t go wrong with roasted broccoli. All you have to do to make it is preheat your oven to 400 degrees, drizzle the broccoli with olive oil and season it to taste, then pop it in the oven for about 18 minutes!

14. Granola Bars

There is such a wide variety of granola bars out there. A lot of them are super unhealthy and sugary, so they won’t fill you up for long. My favorite bars that are on the healthier side are Rx bars. They taste amazing and will keep you full of energy for a long time!

15. Banana and Nut Butter Toast

Just like avocado toast, this is super basic but I don’t care! This is an amazing snack that tastes like dessert. I’d recommend eating this anytime you’re craving a sweet and this will do the trick.
