8 Fictional Characters You Loved More Than Real People

Let’s not lie, there have been times that we’ve all loved fictional characters more than we love real people! Sometimes we wish we could just right into the pages or the television screen and be a part of their fictional worlds to be friends with them all. Here are our top 8 fictional characters that we loved more than real people.

1. Joey Tribbiani, Friends

Topping our list of fictional characters you loved more than real people is Mr. Joey Tribbiani from the hit comedy, Friends. Fans of friends loved Joey so much that when Friends ended after a 10-year run that Joey got his own spin off show named after his character. Joey had the biggest heart (and stomach) of any of the other characters on the show and even though he had some terrible jokes to make him look dumb, was the funniest and kindest character of them all.

2. Elle Woods, Legally Blonde

A close second to making the top of the list was Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. At the start of the movie poor Elle is dumped by who she thinks is the love of her life and goes to great lengths to try and win him back but by the end of the film she realises that she doesn’t need him to be the best version of herself. Elle is smart, kind to everyone, loyal, and overall a real role model to women everywhere. We love you Elle!

3. Nathan Young, Misfits

Nathan was only on Misfits for the first two seasons of Misfits but I think we can all agree when I say that he was the best character of the show. Nathan might not have been the nicest character but a character he certainly was. Hilarious and fun-loving, Nathan was the heart and soul of this serious and it made an impact on the quality of the show after he left.

4. Poussey Washington, Orange Is The New Black

Poussay is one of our favourite characters not only from Orange Is The New Black but possibly from any Netflix originals. Poussay is funny, kind, tough, clever, and loyal to her friends. She is the best friend that we would all want to have. Her tragic death at the end of season four left fans devastated as though they had lost a friend in real life, making her a fictional character we loved more than real people.

5. Smithy, Gavin and Stacy

Americans may know him best from being a superstar television talk show host, but Brits know James Corden for playing his unforgettable and hilarious character, Smithy on the BBC’s Gavin and Stacy. We all know someone just like Smithy and if you don’t then be bet that you wish you do. Smithy is loyal to his best friend, Gavin, and is hysterically funny, giving modern British comedy some of its best lines. And let’s not lie, we all think of Smithy and his sister singing to Gavin over the phone when we hear Estelle’s American Boy.

6. Luna Lovegood, Harry Potter

Luna Lovegood may have been overlooked by all the other characters in the Harry Potter franchise, but she certainly was not overlooked by the Harry Potter fans. Eccentric, smart, and a heart of gold, Luna was one of the kindest characters of the Harry Potter world even if she was a little unusual. Luna was also creative and thought outside the box, which made fans love her even more.

7. Ethan, You

Ethan was one of the very few likeable and unproblematic characters in You (or Hidden Bodies for that matter, despite not being in the second book very much). Ethan seen a fair amount of screen time for a secondary character in the TV show but was a little more prevalent in the book. Ethan is sweet, lovable, loyal and there’s just something oddly charming about his nerdy ways, making him a character that we love more than real people.

8. Rue, The Hunger Games

Aw poor baby Rue, taken from us too soon. Rue makes our list of fictional characters we love more than real people because if you really think about it, it was Rue who started the revolution in Panem, not Katniss. We only get a small interaction with Rue before she dies in the trilogy, but it was significant as she helps and saves Katniss the first time she is thrown into the Hunger Games. Her death was one of the saddest in the trilogy and although it has been 9 years since the book was published, it will not be forgotten any time soon, making Rue a character that we loved more than real people.
