Things To Do In Paris If You Love Fashion

“Fashion trends” can mean many things. For me, it’s using a real forecasting site like the World Global Style Network (WGSN) to find out what I should be looking out for during the upcoming shopping season. In order to stay on top of trends, I check this site monthly and keep track of colors, styles, prints, and fabrics that will be trending in the upcoming months. Here are 7 of them for Summer 2019 to keep your closet looking fresh.

1. Sweet Papaya

Sweet Papaya is Pantone color 16-1361 TCX and is the new hot color for Spring/Summer 2019. Bright orange or subtle hints work well for this emerging trend according to WGSN’s trend forecast. This coat from Nordstrom hits both the tailored suit trend and comes in the infamous Sweet Papaya Pantone color. Typically, you don’t need a coat for summer, but this one will be available during those months and is perfect for late Spring/early Fall.

2. Elastic Waistbands

Get rid of all your zipper and button business casual pants and trade them in for these super comfortable elastic waist ones. This trend is perfect for summer because those regular pants can be so uncomfortable when you get a little sweaty from the hot air. Typically elastic waist pants are made with a light material because there is less strength holding them up. These can be found on a decent sale at Stein Mart, or just about anywhere that sells business casual clothes.

3. Light Floral Patterns

Floral for summer is typical for fashion trends, but these patterns are a little lighter than your typical floral patterns. This dress is perfect because it’s long enough to protect your legs from sunburn, but light and airy enough to keep you cool on your hot summer stroll. This particular dress is from Staying Summer, but you can find a similar one at just about any retail store.

4. Pleats

Pleats are a class, but accordion pleats are leading the summer fashion trends for this season. Skirts like this are becoming increasingly popular and they are available in just about any color you can imagine. You can pair it with sweaters, tanks or cardigans, and either tuck them in or leave them hanging out. You can find this periwinkle pleated skirt at ASOS for fairly cheap. It’s the perfect summer color and really easy to incorporate into your summer wardrobe.

5. Patches/Upcycled Clothing

Sustainability heads the summer fashion trends and it’s not hard to see why. Fashion is one of the most pollution-heavy industries and anything we can do to make that pollution smaller is much appreciated by our Earth. For this trend, take your old pants are add patches to them. You could also purchase patched jeans, like these from Venus. Patches also allow you to express yourself through your jeans more than ever before, which is a huge up and coming trend as well.

6. Asymmetry

Asymmetrical dresses are all the rage, and when you look at this photo it totally makes sense. Asymmetry creates interest, and it’s a great twist on the class LBD or cocktail dress. This velvet dress captures the asymmetrical trends perfectly, and it made from gorgeous and trendy velvet fabric. You can find this dress at ASOS, and others like it from many retail sites.

7. Mixed Prints

You don’t really need a trend to tell you to mix, but for some reason, people are scared of prints. For 2019 summer fashion trends, it is absolutely encouraged to mix prints! This floral and stripe mix is perfect for a brisk summer day. It’s not only flirty but a perfectly paired mix that will have people doing a double take when you walk by. You can find a striped shirt just about anywhere, but I like this one from ASOS. You can use any floral dress, whether it be tight, a skater dress, or a trendy floral overall dress, but this one from Pretty Little Thing matches this adorable inspiration photo.
