5 Fashion Comebacks That Came Back Right On Time For Summer

Fashion had a crazy past. No matter the era, fashion was never perfect. Fashion has always been about making a statement and expressing your style in what you wore and how you wore it. Some say that fashion ends up being so boring it has to change every 6 months. While others say anything that turns into a fad, fades. Here are some fashion comebacks that prove those statements wrong!

1. Fanny Pack/Pouch

FAD STYLE:
The ultimate must have of the late 80s and all of the 90s! It carried everything you ever needed without it making your shoulders sore. It came in all sorts of colours, designs and sizes! An outfit wouldn’t be complete without having one on!

COMEBACK STYLE:
Fanny packs are now everywhere! Came back in full force. High-end brands are making their version of something that was easy to find at any Wal-Mart or Winners. The packs are now seen across the chest and act as a wallet or phone holder.

2. “Mom” Jeans – straight-leg, light blue, high rise Jeans

FAD STYLE:
The main reason these are called “mom jeans” is because these types of pants were worn by moms. You would think it was exclusive, but the real reason was that it was on sale at Calvin Klein. Just kidding. These jeans were the definition of comfort. High waisted to hold the love handles in place and the light blue to compliment any colour and garden.

COMEBACK STYLE:
One thing to note about today’s version of the “mom jean” is that it isn’t worn by moms. That phase is over. The kids are the ones rocking it now. Still dubbed as belonging to moms but sold at places like Forever 21, an age that moms that actually wore this, were (probably) not. The jeans are often worn with anything. Literally, anything at all.

3. Crop Tops

FAD STYLE:
The name for these half shirts was a little different than what kids use now. If it was worn tighter and higher covering most of the chest and upper torso area, they were called belly tops. If they were slightly longer and showed mainly the belly buttons, they were called bare mid-drift tops. These shirts were worn usually for comfort. Many fans of the garment wore it at home or in a casual setting. Celebrities (mainly singers/rappers/performers), wore these tops for performances or events.

Crop tops are all the rage! During the warmer seasons, the tops are the most popular to purchase and every brand has their take on the design. Crop tops have become a more versatile clothing piece to wear. Worn casual, for parties, dinners and acceptable for every size of woman!

4. Small Sunglasses

FAD STYLE:
Worn only by the coolest of the cool. You can almost picture the most iconic R’n’B groups in them. This accessory was THE piece that completed the ultimate cool kid look. It was a bonus if you had the lenses in a different colour. Thin rimmed, propped on the tip of the nose and instantly turned you into the smoothest operator.

FAD STYLE:
Jean on jean on jean was not tacky, it was fashion! Jean jackets were worn with plaid, jeans, tank tops, jeans, boots, jeans. Did I mention jeans? The were sometimes ripped in places and parts of it ripped off completely (like the sleeves). No matter how you wore the jean jacket, it was always known to be the 80s/90s bad boy/girl version of the leather jacket.

COMEBACK STYLE:
Jean jackets nowadays come in all sorts of colours, styles and designs. It’s worn with absolutely anything. It’s a classic that you can dress up and dress down in as many ways as you like. It is usually worn oversized or over hoodies with white-lined zippers and drawstrings.
