We all know that there is a plethora of well-known alumni from NYU. Check out just a few of the many celebrities proud to be alumni from New York University.
Aziz Ansari is now a very popular comedian, but, back in the early 2000s, he was a student in Stern. He graduated from NYU Stern in 2004. He is the author of the best-selling book “Modern Romance: An Investigation” and the creator of the hit show Master of None.
Before he was Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock, Alex Baldwin was part of the Tisch class of 93′, making him an alumni from New York University. He has won two Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards. Additionally, he’s recently received a lot of attention for his portrayal of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live. Plus, he lives right around Washington Square Park, so you might see him every now and then.
One of the famous Sprouse twins of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Sprouse was in the Gallatin School of Individual Study. He majored in video game design and graduated in 2015. Srouse now owns his own business, All-Wise Meadery, located in Brooklyn.
The other Sprouse twin also attended Gallatin School of Individual Study. Sprouse majored in archaeology, and, after graduating in 2015, he worked as an archeologist. He now plays Jughead,one of the main characters, in the popular show Riverdale.
Who knew that our favorite The Princess Diaries star previously attended NYU? She attended both the Gallatin School of Individual Study and Tisch. Some of her most notable films are The Dark Knight Rises, Les Miserables, and, most recently, Oceans 8. She is proud to be an alumni from New York University!
Timothée Chalamet, breakout star of 2017, is a current student at the Gallatin School of Individual Study. He was nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and BAFTA Award for his role in Call Me By Your Name.
Sterling Brown graduated from Tisch in 2001 and has gone on to win both an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for his performance as Randall Pearson in the hit show This is Us. He also won a Primetime Emmy Award for his role in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
Current professor at NYU James Franco attended the NYU Graduate Film School. He starred in Eat, Pray, Love, This Is the End, and countless other films. Franco also recently won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in The Disaster Artist. If you’re lucky, you might be able to take one of Franco’s film classes this upcoming semester. He is definitely one of the famous alumni from New York University!
Actress Natalia Dyer studied at the Gallatin School of Individual Study from 2014 to 2015. She has gained popularity for her portrayal of Nancy Wheeler in Netflix’s show Stranger Things.
Donald Glover graduated from Tisch in 2006. While he was a student at NYU, he was a writer for 30 Rock. He also won a Golden Globe for his work on the show Atlanta.
Bonus: Rumor has it that Glover was an R.A. in Goddard Hall.
Victoria’s Secret Angel Karlie Kloss has been studying at NYU in the Gallatin School of Individual Study since 2015. She has been featured on the covers of Vogue, Teen Vogue, British Vogue, and many others.
Before becoming a famous director, Martin Scorsese was part of the Tisch class of 1966. He is known for his films Taxi Driver, The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street, and many others. In addition, he has won has won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, Cannes Film Festival Best Director Award, multiple Emmys and Golden Globes.
Everyone’s favorite Broadway singer graduated from Tisch in 1992. She won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Elphaba in the musical “Wicked”. Additionally, she voiced main characters in Enchanted and Frozen.
Well-known actress Meg Ryan attended NYU for one semester before dropping out to focus on her acting. Ryan was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in When Harry Met Sally and has starred in other movies like Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail.
The beautiful Angelina also graduated from Tisch in 1993. She starred in Maleficent, Changeling, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Jolie is known for her humanitarian efforts; she received a Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and an honorary damehood of the Order of St Michael and St George.
