Falling In Love: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Falling in love is easily one of the greatest things a person can experience. There isn’t really a way to put love into words, it is more of something you have to experience. This experience is full of ups and downs, and will constantly surprise you time and time again. Today, I am going to go through all of the good, bad, and ugly parts of love, so buckle up because it is about to get real.

The Good – You Are In Love!

What can you really say about love? It is simply the greatest thing any person can experience. All the lame but cute mushy things you say to each other, the flirting, the inside jokes you make over time… there are so many little things that go into why love is so great.

The Bad – Arguments

When falling in love, the first few months will be the classic honeymoon phase, where you will do all of the cutesy stuff you can, because you are in love! Eventually though, you will have your first disagreement/argument. That first argument will really leave you feeling some type of way, and after the highs of the honeymoon phase, it seems to only get you feeling as low as possible. Never give up on somebody just because of a handful of arguments, but also take note of the way they communicate with you. Communication is key to a healthy relationship, so if they do not communicate the way you need them to, or even if they do not communicate at all, it may be better to leave things be.

The Ugly – Sickness

When you get married, they say “in sickness and in health” and boy do they mean it. Your significant other being sick becomes way more of a thing in your life than you would have ever expected. You get to play doctor to a sick person all day, doing all the work/chores because your lover is sick, bedridden. Be grateful if you do not have kids because if you have kids and your significant other gets sick, you have to become a literal superhero to make sure everything still goes according to plan.

The Bad – Too Much Of A Good Thing

While I know you love that person with all your heart, it is very important to take some time for yourself. Spending a large amount of time with each other in close quarters is bound to cause issues in the relationship. Take it from someone who has literally worked with their significant other, just don’t do it. “I am different, I love spending as much time as possible with…” Shut up, you aren’t special. Spending too much time with someone will eventually cause issues.

The Ugly – You Used To Have Friends

Your love for that person makes you want to spend as much time as possible with them, which is not bad until you end up ignoring your friends and family. You might not notice it at first, but all that free time you used to spend chilling with the homies is now occupied by love. You might even have some friends who will call you out over it and get in their feels. Make sure to make time for the people you like, but a good friend will also be there no matter what.

The Bad – The Feels

The person you love is (at least should be) your special person, but when you get your special person, you begin to feel weird about things they do. Maybe you feel insecure when they are talking to other people, or going out with their friends. It is good to have a little bit of insecurity about someone, but do not be that person who is overly protective and jealous. Nothing is more of a turn off than someone who is overly jealous, so let them be them. Also, do not be that person that controls what someone wears out, you decided to love that person for who they were, so why are you trying to change them now that you have them? On the flip side of that though, know your worth, and if they are doing something that oversteps certain boundaries, either speak up or just leave.

The Ugly – Love Fades

Undoubtedly, the absolute worst part of love is when love fades. You went through everything, the honeymoon phase, the dates, the little arguments. And for what? To have a broken heart in the end. I really wish I had a way to say it that was not so brutally honest, but sadly I do not. The harsh reality of love is that sometimes, love fades. It does not make that love any less valuable though, and in my personal experience can actually lead to better things down the line. Heartbreak is an awful feeling, but it can also help you find out how to love and what exactly you want to love.

The Good – Is It Worth It?

After all the bad and even uglier things, you may find yourself asking is love even worth it? Do not worry, because it is 100% worth everything you experience. That love with another person is really the most beautiful thing on this planet, so enjoy it while you can. Even if the love does not last, every moment is still worth it. Remember, there are people out there who have never felt love, and do you really think they are better off? Even if you are heartbroken, remember how empowering and strong that feeling is because there are people out there who have lost love ones and never found love again. I guarantee any of those people would give anything in the world to feel that emotion one more time.

No matter if you have never loved, or are just terrified to open your heart again, you really should. Falling in love is an internal rollercoaster that will take you through highs and lows, but will never leave you feeling feeling-less. Do you have another part of love that is too good to not mention? If so, make sure you let me know in the comments down below!
