Fall Travel Destinations You Won’t Want To Miss Out On

When you want to get away to make sure you see the leaves changing their colors this autumn, you can find yourself with a large variety of choices. Do you go to the East Coast? To The South?  How about the Pacific Northwest? How will you ever choose? And that’s just in the United States.

Luckily for you, I have a shortlist of options to help make narrow things down… at least a little.

Aspen, Colorado

Hello, Colorado! Aspen is a cute little outdoor town, admittedly known for skiing in the winter, bt offers plenty of site-seeing and golden-leaf spotting opportunities in the autumn. Whether you want to go river-rafting, take a bike ride, or go on a hike, there are many different ways to make sure you get your fall fix. (And yes, those gorgeous white-and-gold trees are, in fact, Aspens. The more you know.)

Lincoln, New Hampshire

Another mountain town, Lincoln, New Hampshire offers even more chances for you to get off the beaten path and experience mother nature at Franconia National Park or perhaps Flume Gorge. And for those of you who don’t want to hike too much, you can even simply take a drive in the White Mountains and experience the autumn colors from the comfort of your car.

Dallas, Texas

Deep in the heart of one of our biggest states, Dallas is no small-town USA. With museums, football, and Oktoberfest there is plenty for you city folk to get up to, but there is plenty for those who want a little bit of the outdoors too. You can go sailing, see Shakespeare in the Park, see some hot air balloons take off at the Plano Balloon Festival, and even go to a state fair!

Fenton, Michigan

Fenton, Michigan is another place smack dab in the Northeast and like much of the glove-shaped state offers plenty of cozy spots for your autumn trip. You can explore nature at Crystal Mountain as well as taking a trip down to Spicers Orchards for a really sweet (and spicy) time, having some cider (or even some wine). There’s also plenty to be seen from the highway, making your drive down the M-22 even more lovely than expected-or you can even take the train!

New York, New York

Maybe not the most surprising choice, NYC is a wonderful place to be in the fall. Make sure you dress in layers because its the windchill that’ll get you, but otherwise enjoy the city, and make sure you take a stroll or two through Central Park. I’m not saying your chances of love rise incrementally based on how close you are to The Big Apple, but hat’s how a lot of romcoms seem to work anyway. Not to mention the fact that you can also go see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and be a part of one of the coolest (and potentially coldest) parades in the world.

Portland, Oregon

If you’re looking for a spot to visit in the Pacific North West, why not Portland? It’s not just a great spot to find yourself a hipster anymore (although, there’s that, too). Portland also offers its own colorful gallery of trees and nature to be spotted hiking in Forest Park, at Hoyt Arboretum, and to the Multnomah Falls. At the end of your day, you can wind up in a cozy coffee shop, where they probably grind all their own beans by hand and play everything on vinyl.
