Soup is the perfect food for those cold days of fall, or even nearing winter. But there’s so many things you can put in soup, it’s hard to fixate on just a few for a good recipe. So to help, here’s 10 soup ideas for the fall!
With the mix of worcestershire sauce, paprika and garlic, this flavourful soup is a great option for vegetarians, or for whenever you’re not entirely into eating meat. Country Living suggests using Biona Worcester sauce instead of traditional, but you can use whichever you’d prefer.
This simple soup recipe is easy to perfect once you balance the different flavours: once you roast the garlic, it should let out a mellow flavour to mix with the potato, rather than a harsh one. The recipe calls for chicken stalk, but you can use vegetable if you want to. Country living suggests making it with a hazelnut relish, which will give the soup a little more of a zest.
This soup is perfect for those really cold fall nights, where you’re craving cider but super hungry. The mix of the onion and the sweet of the cider will statisfy this, and also fill you up in the best way. The recipe is basically an English twist on french onion soup, which is really interesting!
This cream-based soup is perfect for times when you want a really hearty soup, the butternut squash and bacon mixing to give a great balance. The recipe also calls for some great ingredients for flavour, like coriander and garlic.
This warm kale soup is the perfect recipe for a cold night. The hearty soup is similar to how a Thai soup is made, with a light broth and chunks of the ingredients. The recipe calls to fry the chorizo, but you can prepare it whichever way you like.
This foreign-feeling soup will warm you up real quick with chunks of lamb and chickpea, and can even warm you up in different ways with a dash of chili oil (which is completely optional). The recipe is flavourful, and probably our favourite of the bunch.
With the mix of coconut, chilis, cumin and coriander, this soup packs a flavourful punch. This soup is perfect for vegetarians (and vegans!), and only requires vegetable stalk and the coconut milk for texture. The recipe calls for an optional scoop of yogurt on top, but you can skip this if you’re not into it.
This vegetable jam-packed soup is perfect for an energizing lunch, and is perfect for vegetarians (but beware of the cream and butter, kids). Country living suggests that if your tomatoes are sweet, add half the sugar and adjust the seasoning at the end of cooking.
This soup is a classic wild garlic soup, that Country Living suggests adding pesto to for a bit more flavour. The base is creamy, but it calls for diced potatoes and other vegetables, which will give the soup a bit more texture. Add the pesto on top after making the soup, and throw a little olive oil on the remaining pesto to put in your fridge.
This soup is perfect for the long, dark nights of autumn with it’s earthy flavours from the sweet potato and zing from the ginger. Plus, the soup can be vegan/vegetarian depending on which stalk you use, and pretty flavourful with the mix of the ginger, onion and garlic.
