6 Fall Road Trips To Take In Delaware
Everything is better during fall: the weather, the clothes, the seasonal activities, and the pumpkin spice flavors. Even though we’re back in classes, there’s something about the brisk fall air that seems to make everything better. Fall is a great time to explore areas around campus, too. Here’s a list of my personal favorite fall road trips in Delaware!
1. Go apple picking at Milburn Orchards.
One of the classic fall road trips in Delaware, apple picking! This is easily one of the most convenient and best places to go apple picking during the fall. It’s only a 15 minute drive from University of Delaware’s campus! Your trip begins with free wagon ride out to the orchard where you can then walk around the orchard and scope out the perfect apples. After you get back to the main shop area, you can walk through the aisles and pick out some yummy treats to bring back to your dorm. I suggest the apple cider donuts, banana chips, and the apple butter.
2. Explore White Clay Creek State Park.
Fall is the ideal time to get lost in the beauty of nature. Grab a friend and go explore the 37 miles of hiking trails at White Clay. There are a plethora of activities to partake in at the park. There’s biking, disk golf, nature programs, and so much more. If you just want to chill, then consider having a picnic in the park. Bring your favorite fall desserts and enjoy!
3. Bounce around in Launch.
For a colder day, try going to launch. It’s an indoor trampoline park that is sure to provide hours and hours of entertainment. You can receive coupons in one of three ways. You can follow them Launch on social media (good), subscribe to the email list (better), or provide your phone number and get deals sent directly to your phone (best).
4. Go skating at the Fred Rust Ice Arena.
Start your winter fun early and pay a visit to the ice arena on campus! You can go to watch the skating teams or hockey teams or skate yourself during one of the public sessions. Be sure to checkout the website to see when the pubic sessions are if you plan on ice skating.
5. Hike the trails at Newark Reservoir.
The Newark Reservoir is a place for the nature lovers. It features 112 acres of trails and natural areas to get lost in. Since you wont get to see much water around campus, this is a great place if you’re missing the beauty of the ocean and don’t have the time to visit Delaware’s beaches.
6. Go on a shopping spree in Christiana Mall.
The mall is always a good idea. Whether you need to find your new favorite fall outfit or want to visit the food court, the mall offers a plethora of activities to partake in. You can window shop, read a book at Barnes and Noble, actually shop, or enjoy the people watching and food that the mall provides. While at the mall, it’s always a good idea to do any grocery shopping you may have to do since the PODs on campus are overpriced.
No matter where you choose to go, you’re sure to have a blast when you explore with the right people. Take advantage of the scenery and weather that the fall brings and go on an adventure!
