Nails are an essential fashion statement. From colors and shapes to intricate designs; there are countless ideas worth replicating from your manicurist or experts on social media. Gone are the days of sufficing with a basic manicure! Take a look at 6 of the year’s hottest fall nail trends for some ideas on how to embrace your nails this season.

1. Acrylic nail shapes

A trend that has been growing in popularity, particularly with celebs, is experimenting with different acrylic nail shapes. A simple square or round shape won’t do anymore! Don’t be afraid to venture outside of the box when choosing your acrylic nail shape. Everything from diamond to almond, to even coffin shape, is available and widely popular.

2. Accent nail designs

One of the main fall nail trends is accent nail designs. From solid colors to rhinestones, combining this unique twist on an ordinary manicure will make your nails stand out in a crowd. Try using this technique paired with a basic nail color, such as white or pink, so it doesn’t become too overbearing. A touch of sparkle to one accent nail will really turn your plain manicure into a piece of artwork!

3. Dark color nails

This fall I have seen a lot of darker colors. Some of my favorites include Tom Ford’s Dark Cherry, OPI’s Midnight in Moscow, Essie’s Wicked, along with many many others which would go great with a gold accent nail or other small design. Dark Autumn colors go beyond the basic black. Try deep wine, dark blue, green, bronze, bronze Aztec, khaki, ruby red or plum.

4. White tones

White is a great shade that you can use all year long on your nails. It’s dramatic and flattering for every skin tone. Also, accent designs on white nails really make your manicure stand out. However, a simple white mani is endearing on its own, giving off a playful, innocent look.

5. Sheer colors

Sheer colors are perfect if you want to be more bold with your nails. If you are into the dark hues you can still embrace this trend. Layer one coast of nude polish, a shade lighter than your skin, and then apply a dark, yet transparent color on top. This way the color will pop, but in a more natural way.

6. Natural look

This season is also about embracing the natural look. If you prefer a manicure that simply emphasizes the nails you were born with, opt for a round shape. This casual shape is flattering on every hand and doesn’t require much work or budget – no acrylics necessary.
