It’s fall time and you know what that means… movie season! And we are here to give you the inside scoop to the fall movies that need to watch this season to have a complete fall. Of course, all of these movies are recommended to also watch with popcorn, candy corn, and apple cider doughnuts! Get your fall movie cue ready because you can’t miss any of these!
1)Harry Potter
Okay, this fall movie is a given. The Harry Potter eight movie series is a classic fall binge-worthy series… and for good reason. If you haven’t seen the movies or have read the books, this is the perfect fall movie to watch because each movie goes through the fall and the holiday seasons to really put you in the mood. Especially in the first few movies, Hogwarts goes hard for the fall and Halloween seasons. After all, you are watching a movie about witches and wizards who also love to celebrate the spooky season! As you progress through the movies, the themes become darker and darker. For this reason, it is recommended that you watch each movie through out the fall season leading up to Halloween! 2) Hocus Pocus
This fall movie HAS to make it on everyone’s lists of fall movies to watch. This is a classic fall movie is about the spooky resurrection of three witchy sisters in Salem, Massachusetts. This classic story tells of the mischief that the three sisters cause and challenges a few teenager and an immortal cat to save the day. This is also a hilarious entertaining movie that is timeless in comedy. This is the ultimate fall movie because you practically can watch it over and over and still be entertained. If you’re looking for a movie to get you into the fall mood, then this is the movie for you!
3) The Nightmare Before Christmas
Though the title has the word Christmas in it, this is actually one of the best fall movies out there! It’s about the King of Halloween Town named Jack Skellington and his journey of discovering the different holiday seasons. The main character, Jack, is a skeleton and is accompanied by a bunch of his monstrous and creepy friends. This movie also has a lot of classic Halloween music that you will probably find on any Halloween Spotify playlist. This is a fun movie to watch and will surely get you into the fall spirit.
4) Little Women
This is one of the newest fall movies, but we already know that it will later be deemed a classic fall movie. Greta Gerwig’s 2019 adaptation of the classic book “Little Women” is simply phenomenal and is a cinematic master piece. This movie is filmed and set in New England during the stunning fall and winter seasons and is breathtaking to watch. Gerwig is very conscious of the color schemes throughout the movie and is a great movie to watch during the autumn season. You will not be disappointed by this lovely film and it is a great choice if you are looking for a newer fall movie.
5) Fantastic Mr. Fox
Speaking of cinematic beauty, Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox is a wonderful fall movie that will leave you surely in the fall spirit. This movie is about a fox and his family and friends who are in the business of stealing from humans. This is a comedic movie that is an adventure to watch. Anderson really focuses on the film’s color palette during the entirety of the movie so every inch of the screen is filled with fall aesthetic. Sit back and grab a hard cider because this is a fun and witty fall movie!
6) October Sky
This is a 90’s fall movie that is both heart- warming and inspirational. If you’re looking for a movie that is touching and has a great story-line, then this is the movie for you. We love this movie and the entire theme around it.
7) Rudy
Of course, it is not fall without a few football inspirational movies on the list! Rudy is a football fall movie that is touching and totally worth you time. It is about a man who has a dream to play college football. Although achieving his dream looks almost impossible, this movie shows that anything can happen. Rudy was filmed during the fall season in South Bend, Indiana and has an absolutely gorgeous set on the campus of Notre Dame.
8) Coco
If you love Disney movies, then this is the Disney movie that you must watch near the first week of November in the fall season. Coco is a fantastic story that follows a boy and his journey of self-discovery. Coco also highlights the beauty and traditions of Día De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in a wonderful fall fashion. We can’t get enough of this movie. It is simply beautiful and so so fall!
9) Dead Poets Society
Ahhh a fall movie from the 80s! This timeless story takes us to a classroom where a teacher inspires his students to do better in everything that they do. We get to ride along on the journey with the students as they discover the world and who they are in it.
10) Frozen 2
A fabulous story of two sisters in Scandinavia who are discovering themselves while also trying to save the city that they love! This film is set in rural Norway during the fall season and the animation is absolutely gorgeous. You have to watch this if your looking for a beautiful fall movie!
11) Halloween Town
A corny, but sentimental Halloween movie classic that we simply can’t leave out. This is about a young teenage witch that is discovering magic within her own family. With the guidance of her Grandmother, she is tasked with the goal to save Halloween Town!
12) It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
A cartoon favorite of the fall season that can never go out of style!
