10 Fall Fruit Recipes You Need To Try ASAP

Summer is the best time for fruit so when fall rolls around we want to make sure we make the most out of the fruit we have. Below, I’ve shared 10 fall fruit recipes that will make transitioning into fall a little bit sweeter.

1. Grilled Pineapple

Grilled pineapple not only tastes amazing but smells just as divine. These grilled pineapples are paired with a cinnamon honey drizzle, making the combo the perfect BBQ side dish or dessert. The beauty about this recipe is that Lisa from WineandGlue only shares recipes that are easy and quick to make so you can ensure this grilled pineapple and honey drizzle combo will let you enjoy time outside of the kitchen.

2. Pineapple Salsa

Another pineapple dish, I know. What can I say? I love pineapple. There’s something about pineapple that tastes so good on its own but, dare I say, even better when it’s paired with a bit of savouriness or texture, like when its grilled or, as in this recipe, coupled with red onion, red bell pepper, and lime juice. What’s even better is that, as salsa, you can dip your favourite chips in it. Talk about yum!

3. Baked Pears with Maple Syrup

Pears are one of those other fruits that I feel are sometimes underrated. I love having them in my salads, drizzled with honey, or just plain. Sometimes you find that perfect pear and it just tastes too good. Well, imagine the perfect pear with maple syrup and, boom, you get Maryea’s Baked Pear with Maple Syrup recipe.

There are only two tablespoons of maple syrup in this recipe, making it not too indulgent with the sugar. I feel like baking makes pretty much anything better, and to bake pears would just make the taste of them even more juicy and aromatic. Eat this dish by itself or as a topping above vanilla ice cream. Either way, be prepared for a really sweet response!

4. Spiced Apple Cider Baked Donuts

If I could fall in love with a recipe, I think this one might be the winner. Another amazing recipe from Maryea from Happy Healthy Mama, these spiced apple cider baked donuts are a perfect fall treat. I mean, have you looked at them? They’re pretty much all of my baked good dreams rolled into one.

You can either make these as donuts using a donut pan or as donut holes, as shown below, using muffin pans. These take about 40 minutes to make but are well worth the wait. Maryea’s tip is to simmer the apple cider in a saucepan for 15-20 minutes so that the flavour becomes more concentrated and, thus, all the tastier. The true beauty of this dessert is that they are dairy-free, gluten-free, and lower in sugar than traditional donuts. Thank you, Maryea!

5. Strawberry Fruit Popsicles

Who cares if it’s not summer anymore!? I think these popsicles are all the more important to remind us to enjoy the dog days of summer and warmth before the air gets chillier and the sweaters start to be put on.

These simple popsicles are made with real strawberries, making them healthier than a lot of the popsicles in grocery stores, ice water, and strawberry purée. Super simple and incredibly thirst-quenching.

6. Apple Walnut Spinach Salad

A perfect fall salad that makes me want to go apple picking STAT. This is both a delicious and incredibly delicious dish that is perfect to celebrate the transition into fall. There’s no going wrong with this salad — it’s flavorful, light, with just enough sweetness because of the apples.

7. Brown Sugar Cinnamon Fruit Salad

Perhaps the quintessential fall fruit recipe is this Brown Sugar Cinnamon Fruit Salad. You get the taste of summer fruits with the spicy flavour of autumn. Karly’s recipe on her blog, Buns In My Oven, is easy and quick to make, and a perfect side dish to your favourite fall meal. My favourite part of this recipe is probably the kiwi because kiwi, like pineapple, for me is the perfect combination of tang and sweetness. Mixed with the cinnamon and brown sugar, your taste buds will sure have a party!

8. Overnight Chia Seed Pudding

With school just around the corner, once the fall starts, this overnight chia seed pudding will be a lifesaver for those early mornings back at school. I remember when I was in grad school I had to stay up late to do work and then get to school rather early; I really only had time for quick oatmeal or chia seed pudding like the one below.

The great thing about this pudding is that you can actually make and pack it before bed the night before so that it’s ready to go when you need to run out the door the next morning. The chia seeds absorb into the water or almond milk overnight, making for an incredibly nutritious breakfast on the go. You can add any fruit that you want to brighten your days back at school and maybe even some cinnamon and honey for a little extra sweetness!

9. Cinnamon Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Apples

This is a perfect side dish that is reminiscent of the thanksgiving, making it a perfect fall fruit dish. A perfect balance of sweetness between the apples and sweet potato. You can also select from a variety of apples depending on what flavour you want. If you want some tartness to balance the sweetness of the sweet potato, consider adding Granny Apple to your recipe. I find that Honeycrisp is a nice balance in and of itself — not too sweet, not too tart, and a whole lotta crunch!

10. Autumn Harvest Breakfast Bowls

Another good option for those up and coming early mornings once school starts, these Autumn Harvest Breakfast Bowls are a yummy and nutritious addition to your daily routine. I’ve been rather obsessed with breakfast and smoothie bowls lately not only because they are aesthetically pleasing to look at but because they are so gosh darn delicious.

This bowl features all the fall spices you can think of, along with pecans, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, butternut squash, quinoa, and oats, to name a few. It’s both sweet and savoury and oh so good.
