Fall Fashion Trends You Need to Know

As the summer dwindles down, I’m starting to dream of cold weather and cozy sweaters. The crisp, cool days of fall seem so much more appealing than the hot and muggy heat that we’re currently dealing with. This season’s fall fashion is full of new takes on old favorites! The fashion of the 70’s have proven to be a huge influence on this autumn’s new looks!  Here’s a list of our favorite fall fashions to watch out for!

Dusters & Duster Vests

H&M are doing so well this year 💘🙏🏼👏🏼 #hm #asos #publicdesire #shepard #dusterjacket

This is one of the fall fashion trends that I’m most excited about. Lightweight dusters—long loose, flowy coats—have been showing up more and more over the past few seasons. Dusters have been ranging in all colors—from baby pink and pastel blue to khaki and army green. However, the new twist for fall on dusters is the duster vest—all of the length and flow of the full coat without the sleeves. Duster coast are perfect for early fall and are great layering pieces. You’ll definitely be able to find a duster or duster vest that matches your personal style perfectly.  This fall, forgo your structured leather biker jackets and army inspired coats for a more whimsical silhouette. Throwing on a full duster or a vest will add a relaxed, high-fashion feel to any outfit this fall.

Cutouts

Cutouts have been super on trend as of late. You can transition your love of cutouts into the fall by looking for pieces in warmer fabrics and more conservative silhouettes. Try incorporating this style into your autumn attire by wearing a sweater with shoulder cutouts this season.

Lace-Up

Fall fashion is going to be big on the 70’s this year and nothing is being overlooked. Inspired by some retro vibes, the lace-up detail is a easy way to take a plain piece of clothing and give it some personality. The subtly sexy detail is enough to add a little extra to an outfit with minimal effort.

Bomber Jackets

The bomber jacket is big this season. This classic silhouette has gotten a total update. The bomber structure has previously been seen mostly in leather and in athletic wear. However, this season the bomber has been revived and is taking on many different colors, patterns, and textures. If you’re not into the classic bomber jacket but still dig the style, try it out in a bright color or a pattern, like florals or stripes. A bomber jacket is the perfect piece to add a polished, sporty vibe to your look.

Asymmetry

Asymmetrical hemlines were hot this summer and they’ll continue to be on trend this coming fall. These creative cuts have made their way to the forefront for autumn. These hems are showing up in  hard, straight lines and subtler, cascading shapes. Either way, an asymmetrical piece adds an edge to any outfit!

Pre-Fall fashion has shown that wide-legged pants are everywhere as a result of some major 70’s fashion inspiration on the runways. Looser pants come in many different silhouettes and materials so you’ll be sure to find something to match your personal style! You’ll be seeing wide legged pants in tons of different variations, all of them being on trend! For a relaxed, flowy look wide-legged trousers that are loose down the length of your leg are a go-to. If you’re not so bold but are still into the wide-legged trend, pick up a pair of culottes or flares.

Rompers have become a spring and summer go-to. Opt for the ease and minimal effort of you favorite romper this fall by choosing something with a little more coverage or in a heavier fabric. Rompers and jumpsuits with full-length sleeves are perfect for keeping you warm in cooler weather, but still allow you the luxury of not having to plan out an outfit. On the chilliest of days, you will still be able to wear your favorite romper by pairing it with a pair of tights and a sweater!

Bell Sleeves

Everything will be flowy and loose this fall season—especially your sleeves. Bell sleeves have made a statement and they’re here to stay. Break out your favorite bell-sleeved top or dress to create the perfect cool, carefree outfit. Wider sleeves are a small detail but they add a whole lot to your look.

Flannel

Flannel has been and will be forever more a fall wardrobe staple. Keep it simple with jeans and a graphic tee or dress it up by buttoning it up with a statement necklace. Wrapping a flannel around your waist has recently become a trend. If you’re wrapping your shirt around your waist, make sure to fold the collar underneath the rest of the shirt so that it looks neat. Whatever way you choose to wear, flannels will always be one of the coziest and comfiest fall pieces.

Sweater Neck Details

This fall, pay attention to the details of your sweaters—turtlenecks, mock-necks, and cowl necks will be everywhere. Each year, sweaters become a wardrobe staple in the fall and winter months. Opt to mix it up with a different type of neck like. If you usually stick to a plain Jane sweater or cardigan, look into a mock-neck or a cowl neck sweater!

Chambray

Everyone should have the classic chambray button down shirt, but that doesn’t mean that chambray should be limited to this silhouette in your wardrobe! Chambray is versatile and is much easier to wear than denim, yet it gives off the look of denim. It’s super light and comfortable, no wonder why chambray is showing up everywhere for fall!
