Fall will be just around the corner as summer winds down. Prepare your carving tools, bring out the pumpkin spice, and save up for that turkey. Fall DIY projects are necessary to elevate the house’s enthusiasm. Often times, the fall seasons may be rainy and glum.
Do you ever wonder about how to make your house just a bit more festive? Without breaking the bank, several ideas will be cost efficient, eye-opening, and fun to do. There are ten DIY Projects you can do that will brighten up your home and the months ahead.
If you know the craze around mason jars, you also know that mason jars are pretty much used for anything and everything. As the first one this list, you can say that mason jars would be nifty and useable as candle holders. Decorate the outside with non-flammable spray paint or leave it clean, then place dried leaves pressed onto the inside of the jar. Finally, add a candle inside. Add a ribbon as a final touch, and you have yourself a festive candle!
Even though this decorative item is sold in craft stores, you can pass through the boredom and DIY easily. Paper flowers on branches are seemingly the prettiest decoration. You can take dried flowers and leaves of your choice and glue them on branches. Light toned flowers will bring color and lighten the mood just as things can become dark during the fall. You will brighten up your home by making a few of these branched flowers and gain some impressions from guests.
The color gold or beige have become common colors for fall decorations and projects. Do you want to add a touch of gold in your home? You can do so with two or more mini pumpkins, some acorns and cans of gold spray paint. What is great about using a pumpkin for decoration is that as an option, you can carve it on the inside and the pumpkin becomes a jar or container of sorts. Gold-toned pumpkins may also look chic.
For those living with coniferous and pine trees in their area, they may come across pinecones. Have you walked through the park and stepped on a few along the way? That would be a great time to gather up pine cones for this next DIY project. With that, you can either create scented pinecones or use the scented pinecones to make a garland. If you are needing something to hang upon the fireplace, banister, or doorway, pinecone garlands would be outstanding.
Bringing the mason jar back into discussion, it is no surprise that they can be used to store candy. Right next to your DIY candle jar, you can think of placing a jar full of candy corn, acorn, or fake fruits. This DIY project will really only take five minutes to do. Take a mason jar, fill it up with desired items, and you have yourself another festive mason jar. Place such items on countertops, coffee tables, side tables, shelves, or even the fireplace.
If you don’t want a plainly painted pumpkin, why not sprinkle it with glitter? This DIY project is as easy as the other one. Spray paint the pumpkin and then sprinkle. For this project, you might want to prepare a vacuum cleaner and mod podge for the glitter to stick. What is great about fall is that there are plenty of festive colors to choose from such as gold, silver, orange, brown, white, etc. You don’t have to settle for one color!
Similar to a pinecone garland, if you feel as though you need more leaf decorations, grab some dried leaves and begin making your own autumn leaf garland. Gather some red, orange, and yellow leaves to create the greatest garland. Leaves not only bring out the vibrancy and spirit of fall season, but they show your admiration for nature and its beauty. Hang the garland on the wall, upon the fireplace, or even by the window. It will show that you are ready for fall to begin!
Other than fallen pine cones, we all may have stepped on a couple of acorns on the ground during fall. The acorns are not just for squirrels. Prep your basket and gather some acorns for even more DIY projects. Using spray paint or perhaps metallic acrylic paint, give the acorns some fall colors and place them in jars, a tray, or scatter on the table for a fall effect. You can even create an acorn wreath with leaves to hang on your front door!
The wine cork board is nothing new, but it sure gained a lot of attention. If you have seen framed corks on Instagram, you may be wondering how to create your own. Using trimmed wood for the frame, use wood glue and nails to piece the frame together. Cut out an exact measure backing for the frame. Sand the piece and stain the wood for your liking. Bring all the corks you have together, and cut and glue the corks individually onto your new board!
Almost everyone enjoys a cookie or two during the holidays. If you know how to bake sugar cookies, it would be nice to take it up a notch with marbled leaves cookies. Shape the cookie dough into leaves and bake, then using edible paint, color the cookies as you wish. Marbled leaves cookies are not only fun to look at, but they are good to eat during a relaxing day of the fall season. They are wonderful to serve during holiday parties as well!
