Mascara will always be an essential component in our maquillage arsenal, but there’s so many good ones out there now, it’s getting kinda hard to choose a staple fave, and you’ll probably end up, like us, choosing a different one every time. So we’ve got together a list of mascaras for you that really do have that false lashes effect.
Benefit‘s “They’re real” mascara has always been a go to when it comes to really extending those lashes, which is probably why it’s got a whole array of awards, not to mention that it’s “the no.2 selling Prestige Mascara in the UK”. Basically, this mascara is one you can definitely trust to do a good job, and with the classic domed tip brush that lengthens, curls and adds body to your lashes, not to mention that one application lasts forever.
The “Lash Sensational Mascara” from Maybelline is a certified drugstore favourite, due to the way it adds more definition to your lashes with one coat, separating, extending them, and coating them in glossy black. Maybelline’s curved, “Layer-Reveal” brush does a fantastic job at coating every last one of your lashes, to the extent that you could swear you didn’t have that many before!
The “Volume Million Lashes” mascara by L’ Oréal Paris is another affordable product that really does the job. The numerous thin bristles on their “millionizer” brush simultaneously separates and coats your lashes, spreading them out over a wider surface area to give them a sharper overall effect. It also has an “excess wiper” to get rid of any clumps, which, lets not lie, is a lifesaver.
Another Benefit product here, because, well, they’re more expensive for a reason. The tagline of “Badgal Bang!” is that it’s a volumising mascara, so you know from the offset that you’ve come to the right place. The great thing about this product is that, although it certainly hugely ups the definition of your lashes, it’s made with a light weight formula, so that although the overall look is more dramatic, the individual lashes aren’t clunky and thick with mascara.
The “Masquara Gain” mascara from Illamasqua is another product that is slightly higher budget, but with good reason. Made by experts, Illamasqua have gone back to the classic spoolie brush to give us a highly effective mascara that not only defines lashes whilst it is being used, but contains a walnut natural dye extract which slowly tints your lashes, so that they will begin to look volumised, even when you haven’t applied mascara!
When you hear Soap and Glory, your first thought is likely to be of seductively fragrant bath and body products, but S&G do makeup too, and there’s definitely some bucket list products in their collection, and their “Thick and Fast” mascara is 100% one of them. You know that something’s gonna be good if it comes in a gold bottle, and this mascara is just that- intensifying, curling and with 24-hour wear.
The cheapest mascara on our list, Rimmel London‘s “Scandaleyes” mascara is a favourite, and here’s why: smudge proof, sweat proof, and still easy to remove, plus it has a de-clumping volumising formula. Ideal.
Now this Lancôme product is more of a lash primer than an actual mascara, but it is still just as worthy of our list. It both protects and enhances your lashes, boosting the lengthening and curling effects of your normal mascara when you apply it.
Too Faced‘s “Better Than Sex Mascara” is another product that is slightly higher up the price range, but it is a mascara that is truly amazing. With a unique hourglass brush that catches both top and bottom lashes in a glossy, voluminous sweep, this mascara provides extreme, dramatic definition.
Aaaand another Benefit one. What can we say? We’re obsessed, they’re the best. With it’s vintagey packaging, and speciality curling brush, we love the fluttery lash effect you get from this product.
