Everything You Should Know On How To Prepare For College

Preparing for college is a big step in a teenager’s life. Whether you are going away or you are staying at home, the transition marks a defining point in everybody’s lives. Moving into a dorm, joining Greek Life, getting involved on campus, and picking your classes are all part of the college experience. Here is everything you should know on how to prepare for college.

Packing Up

To pack up for college, you have to make sure you have all the essentials. Ensure a checklist before you go, and pack up your things in luggages and sealable boxes.

For bedding, make sure you have all your sheets, comforter, pillows, pillow sheets, extra blankets, padding, and possible mattress foam.

For all your clothes, make sure to have your casual clothing, formal clothing, business attire, and pajamas. You have to have this diversity to differentiate between a night out versus a job interview.

To prepare extra furniture, make sure you put your knickknacks separate from any electronics or from toiletries. Have all your boxes marked so that you do not mix things up.

Moving In

When moving in to your dorm or new apartment, you need to make sure you unpack in a smart way. Having a cart would help a lot for having a ton of items.

First, get your desk ready and set up everything the way you want it. Put your non-moveable items to their settled locations and then set up your bed.

When setting up your bed, make sure you put it correctly and that the sheets are clean before you put it on, because nobody wants to sleep on dirty sheets.

Set up your decorations at the end because that is the layer of everything in the room. Then, set up your food and toiletries at the end as well. Organize your closet the best way you would like it. Make sure to put your luggage in the back of your closet or in a storage so that you do not have it lingering around.

A pro tip is to wear a mask so you do not get sick from all the dust lingering everywhere.

Getting Involved

Getting involved on campus includes many different aspects. You can run for student government to make governing decision on campus, or join Greek life and get involved in your campus school spirit. Of all, you should try to join clubs that pertain to your major so you can have more experience and meet people that have the same interests as you.

See Also

Get a job on campus to make extra money, and your coworkers would also be people who are on campus so you can make extra friends.

Do not join every single club you see or else you will overstress yourself. Try to join only the clubs that are meaningful to you, and do not feel pressured to be part of something you do not want to be part of.

Focusing On Academics

While preparing for college, you need to learn to focus on your academics. Get all of your notebooks and your binders together, and organize everything based on your classes that you have.

Talk to your counselor to choose the classes that will best suit your track and fulfill your requirements. Do some research yourself so that you can make sure you are making the proper decision and that the counselor is not making a mistake.

Of all, try to have a planner so you can sort out your schedule and make sure to remind yourself of any assignments that are due.
