Everything You Need To Know About Starting A Blog
Everyone who’s anyone seems to be starting a blog these days, which makes it look so easy. Having free beauty products from your favorite brands sent straight to your door to review for your followers and attending free events with semi-famous DJs and online influencers you’ve followed since they started out all drinking cocktails in photobooths together, what’s not to love? Well, starting a blog isn’t as easy as it looks on social media, here are a few things that people don’t mention to you.
First of all, you won’t have brands knocking on your door begging you to be an ambassador.
You have to work for it. And by that, I mean a solid group of followers, I’m talking in their thousands, and you’ll need a backlog of posts to prove you’re a worthy cause – one post proves nothing.
Followers are harder to come by then you’d imagine.
You may be racking up the views with the help of your mates sharing it (just ask, you’ll be thanking them later) but ‘views’ are very different to followers. To directly follow your blog, they’ll need to be signed up to the blogging site you’re using, so don’t be disheartened if you feel you haven’t got any.
I’m not saying views aren’t good, because they damn well are.
They’re just two different things that you don’t necessarily think about beforehand.
Picking the right blogging platform for you is important.
The most popular two are WordPress or Blogger, don’t just choose one because you know someone that uses it, pick the one you feel the most comfortable using, as all the different features can become confusing and overwhelming.
It can be difficult to keep up with it.
Especially when life gets busy, but don’t let that dishearten you! Keep at it.
If you’re struggling for blog post ideas and feel as if you’re not doing anything ‘interesting’ that your followers will want to read, review something!
A book, a film, a beauty product, a game, a new restaurant! You don’t have to be jetting off to new countries every week to make an interesting blog.
Make sure you share your posts on all your social media platforms.
As this is the best way to get the word around. It can feel daunting at first, knowing everyone will be reading your stuff, but it will be worth it.
