When it comes to dating in college there are a few things you need to consider. It can be a hassle but then also it can be a great way to cut loose and get your mind off of your studies for once. There are a few things you need to know whether you plan on dating in college or you already know. Down below is a list.
It can be impossible to find time for dating or late night texting when you have exams and homework on your plate. So you need to take your school schedule into consideration as well as workload before you start dating. Cause if you don’t have much time but still want companionship maybe even a friendship with a guy you like could help or even explain to whoever you like at the moment that you don’t have the time to get into anything serious and when your ready and have the time maybe things will work out between you too.
Now if you’re not looking for a full-on committed relationship right now you need to let whoever it is your talking to at the moment that. Don’t egg on the possibility of a relationship or make them think you’ll change your mind if you’re unsure. If you do want commitment they need to understand you can’t always put in the time with school. I know it’s a little different if you go away to college but honestly, I’ve heard of some relationships that not only flourish but tank. I feel like it’s the fact of being shoved in this little community where you know his friends and he knows yours. It’s very rare that a committed relationship lasts in college but when it does they have some amazing futures.
This kind of goes into that statement I made where I quote, “you know his friends and he knows yours”. Sometimes dating someone in the same location or even college as you can have more cons than pros. Personally, I’ve never dated someone in the same location let alone the same college. One thing people don’t realize is, is that when your young your gonna date so many people and it’s soo much better when you don’t run into them when it’s over. I had a friend in my last college who used to watch her ex from two tables down in the lunchroom. Unless you live on an enormous campus I don’t recommend it, be careful who you date.
I personally don’t agree with this form of relationship just cause I fully believe in the show “Catfish”, and I just don’t feel you really know the person you’re dating all that well. I had a friend date this guy online, they lasted 2 years and visited each other too, turns out he was cheating on her. Be careful you date online. I get it can seem good to have some meaningless flirting especially to get your mind off the hardships of college. But at the end of the day how far do you want that meaningless flirting to go which brings me back to reason 2.
I know a lot of people who won’t even allow themselves to get into any sort of relationships besides friendships when they’re in school. It’s most likely cause, their very serious about there studies and wanna succeed. Plus you don’t always need a love interest to cut loose you have your friends and you have yourself. Although if you feel you can’t handle both then maybe date in the summer you know. But also I don’t like the idea of letting a good guy slip through my hands, so keep the good ones around even if they’re just your friend it could be good for you in the long run.
