Everything You Can Do On A College Campus To Enjoy The Fall

There is no better season to be at college than in the fall. The trees changing colors, the football games, the tailgates before the football games, bonding with roommates, etc. The number of things to be doing at college in the fall is endless.

Here is everything you can do on a college campus to make the most of the fall!

1. Enjoy The Scenery

One of the best ways to make the most of the being at college in the fall is to walk around your campus and take in the scenery. If you’re lucky enough to go to school in an area where the leaves change, don’t take that for granted. Nothing was better than walking around my East Coast campus in the fall with a crisp breeze blowing the trees that were filled with reds, oranges, and yellows.

Take a few of your friends with you and have a little photoshoot in more of the scenic areas of your campus in a cute cardigan or a trendy flannel. Sit outside and do some homework while you take in the vistas.

Grab a Pumpkin Spice Latte or a warm apple cider from your favorite campus coffee spot and sit out on the quad and read a book or look over your notes for the midterms that are looming. Pack a snack and bring a friend along for a fall picnic out on campus. Fall is fleeting and the beautiful views won’t last very long! Enjoy every second of it while you can.

2. Homecoming

I can only speak form experience at Monmouth University, but the best day of the year was always Homecoming. The anticipation for Homecoming was like a Christmas countdown.

Girls customizing their shirts. Boys filling the coolers and curating the perfect playlist. Tables just waiting to be body-slammed by frat boys all over the parking lot. Ah, Homecoming. There’s nothing quite like it.

Homecoming is one of the most memorable days of the year. The pictures are timeless and the memories you make with your friends while day drinking in a parking lot are some you will never want to forget. School spirit is at an all-time high at Homecoming. It is truly the highlight of being at college during the fall season.

3. Game Day

Take advantage of the football season while you can. You’ll wish you went to more games when the season has passed, trust me.

Sit in the stands with a group of friends and cheer on your team! It’s so fun to dress head to toe in your school’s gear and colors and spend the day outside in the cool air. If your school is actually good at football, you can actually get into the game! If they’re not so good, make the most of it anyway!

If you’re not into the actual sports aspect of game day, just go for the tailgate! Some schools throw dagers/dartys during the actual game, so usually, the game is not the most important part of the day. Play some beer pong or flip cup while listening to the best frat party playlist you’ve ever heard.

4. Halloweekend

Halloween is a 3-4 day event when you’re a college student. The special breed of human that can survive the entire weekend is stronger than the U.S. Marines. Whether you’re at a frat party or going out to the bars, you better be prepared with 3-4 different costumes for each night.

Campuses usually hold some sort of spooky attraction during Halloweekend. A haunted tour through the oldest building on campus or even a “trunk-or-treat’ fundraiser for a campus organization. Shows support for your peers and stop by one of their events on your way to a party!

Halloweekend is definitely a marathon, not a sprint. So make sure you pace yourself! Enjoy taking on a different personality each night and have fun with your friends.

5. Roommate Bonding

One of the most important parts of the college in the fall is to make sure you’re spending it with the people you love! Fall is a great time to get outside and do things around your college town with people you won’t get to spend the rest of the holidays with.

Go to a near-by pumpkin patch with your roomies and take some cute pictures. Pick out a couple of pumpkins to take home and dedicate a night to carving them. Spend a few hours laughing with your friends over how awful you all are at making faces in the pumpkins! If it’s early enough in the fall, there is also a good chance that sunflower fields will still be up and running. Take advantage of the last few days of warmth and take a day trip to one of the most Instagram-able places in the world! Another great way to spend some quality time with your roommates is to go apple picking. Not only is apple picking a great fall activity, the memories you will make by trying to get a “candid” picture will last you and your roomies a lifetime! Make some use out of the apples and pumpkins you picked and spend a couple of hours baking! A delicious pie with the pumpkin or a nice fall cocktail with the apples would pair perfectly with a Halloween movie night!

Take a trip down memory lane and watch Halloweentown or Twitches! Disney+ has a whole tab dedicated to old school Disney Halloween movies that will transport you and your roomies right back to your childhood. If you’re more of a thrill-seeker, put on a scary movie and cuddle in close on the couch with your roomies! Blankets, friends, and maybe even a glass of wine are the perfect protection from anything that could go bump in the night after a horror movie marathon.

College in the fall is truly a time like no other, and getting to spend that time with your school friends is unmatched.
