Things To Remember When You Doubt Everything Happens For A Reason

As much as social media may make it seem, nobody has a perfect life. The sad reality is that everybody has their problems and everybody goes through hard times in their life – some just more than others. Personally, as a 21 year old, I have definitely had my fair share of hard times – probably a lot more than the average 21 year old. As a result of those hard times that started at a young age, I, just like many other people, have a wall up. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing (it’s okay to be a little cautious and want to protect yourself from getting hurt), I feel it has caused a few missed opportunities in my life. It wasn’t my intention, but it happened nevertheless. Here is why I believe that everything happens for a reason.

Stay Positive

I’ve had times (many times) where I’ve beaten myself up about it. But then I always start to hear the little voice in my head telling me that everything happens for a reason and if those opportunities were supposed to work out for me, they would have, or they will come back around again in the future. In some of my darkest moments, I have definitely questioned that little voice and thought it was just some cliche saying and didn’t actually hold any truth. However, in my right state of mind, I wholeheartedly believe that everything really does happen for a reason and if something is meant to be, it will be. I’m sure I am not alone in doubting that, though, so I thought I would write this article for any of you to read and look back on when you’re going through a tough time and need that extra reminder that everything truly does happen for a reason. Remind yourself everyday that everything happens for a reason.

Faith

The number one thing that always re-solidifies my belief in everything happens for a reason is my faith. Now, I am by no means an overly religious person, and I’m sure some of you might not be religious at all and that’s perfectly okay. It doesn’t matter what you believe in, all you need to know is that, in life, you will never be put through anything you cannot handle. Even if you are going through the hardest thing you’ve ever gone through in your life and you’ve never been in a more dark place, you are going through it because you are strong enough to overcome it and, when you do, you will be wiser and an all around better person.

Believe

I am also a firm believer in that if something or someone was meant to be in your life, they would have been or eventually will be, no matter how far they wander from you. There is such thing as meeting the right person at the wrong time, so that person may wander away from you for a little bit, and that’s okay because there’s a reason that person didn’t stick around – either they wouldn’t serve you any positive purpose or they teach you something. When the time is right, if they are meant to be a part of your life, they eventually gravitate back towards you. If they don’t, then you know that they simply weren’t meant to be a part of your life. Trust in the fact that everything happens for a reason.

Loss

I have lost some of the closest people to me who meant everything to me and I have also been left with toxic people. Believe me when I tell you, I have questioned God, the universe, you name it, as to why I had to lose those people and why I was stuck with the one person who was the least deserving. I still don’t have my answer, but I have faith that someday I will understand. At the time, I didn’t think I would overcome the loss of some of my loved ones, but here I am, doing my very best in life and continuing to not just live, but embrace my life as they would want me to.

Overcome

So remember, no matter what you’re going through, no matter how dark, you will overcome it. It doesn’t matter if you believe in God or not – you can believe in whatever you do or want to believe in – just know that you are going through what you’re going through for a reason. You might not know what that reason is for a while, but eventually it will all make sense. Remember, everything happens for a reason.
