10 Essential Festival Items You Can’t Forget

When it comes to music festivals, you need to show up extra prepared. Whether you’re making a long trek to another city or chilling in your hometown, you’ll likely be camping out, so you won’t want to miss anything! These essential festival items will make your experience convenient and fun.

1. Hydration Pack

Staying hydrated is the most important part of any music festival. Throughout those hot days in sweaty crowds as well as alcohol consumption, you’ll need to make sure you have plenty of water in your system. Luckily, most festivals will allow you to carry a hydration pack on your back! Save your money by skipping the overpriced water bottles and carry one of these around. Hydration packs include a bag to put your water in as well as a spout to drink the water from. Many festivals also include water stations to refill your bags, so you’ll be thanking yourself later when you bring one of these.

2. Tapestries

When setting up your campsite, you’ll typically want to include a tent, tarp, and canopy. For added privacy as well as shade, consider bringing tapestries to hang up around your canopy. You can use clips to hang them up and shield yourself from the sun so that when you need a break from the craziness of the festival, you’ll have a cool place to hang out. This will also give you an easy way to change clothes rather than having to cramp your body in your tent! Overall, tapestries are going to make the experience much more convenient for you.

3. Solar Power Charger

If you’re planning on staying at a music festival over the course of a few days, you’ll definitely want to bring a solar power charger for your phone. Solar power chargers gain power when you lay them out in the sun for a few hours, allowing you to plug your phone in and charge it afterwards. Make sure you lay your charger out days before the festival so you can get the most use out of it. Alongside its charging capabilities, this charger in particular has a strong flashlight as well, so you’ll be getting a 2-in-1 deal!

4. Portable Shower

Some festivals offer shower packages, but they often come at a hefty price. Instead of spending the extra money and walking back and `forth, consider bringing your own portable shower! Dropping the money on a portable shower that you can conveniently use any time in the future will be worth it in the long-run. The shower tent offers full privacy for you to change clothes, wash your hair, etc. You just take the spout at the end and dip it into a large water source. You could bring gallon water containers and use those for your shower, for example. This is an easy way for you to get ready for the day feeling refreshed and brand new.

5. Folding Table

As you eat your snacks and drink your beers, it may be difficult to keep track of all the items you’ve pulled out. A folding table will prevent you from losing your things by keeping it all on one surface. This is also ideal for when you want to relax and eat with your friends, giving you a place to put your plates and pull your chairs up. Aside from this, you may have some party games you want to bring! A folding table will allow you to play cards, beer pong, and really anything you want on a convenient surface. You won’t want to skip this when you’re packing for the festival.

6. Totem Pole

Whether you want to bring a funny flag into the festival or need an easy way to find your campsite, you’ll want to bring a totem pole with you. Totem poles can be made in a DIY-fashion by using a pipe and printing off a large image onto cardboard while customizing it to your standards, or you can find totem poles online. Totem poles are often a way that seasoned festival-goers mark their campsite. As you’ll likely be camping with a large amount of other people around you at the festival, you won’t want to get lost when you’re coming back at night. You can stick the totem pole right at your campsite, or you can bring it into the festival with you.

7. Bluetooth Speaker

When you’re hanging out at your campsite, pregaming, or getting ready for the day, you’ll want to have some tunes in the background. Consider bringing a Bluetooth speaker for everyone to enjoy! This is also an easy way to make friends with the people camping around you – after all, festivals are all about bonding over shared music tastes. There will never be a dull moment at your campsite if you bring a speaker with you.

8. Tarp

The weather can be unpredictable, and the last thing you’d want at a festival is to wake up freezing cold and soaking wet due to rain leaking into your tent. You can avoid this by bringing a tarp with you and pinning it underneath your tent. You can also take a tarp to put under your canopy on a day that you know it’s going to rain. That way, everyone will have a dry space to hang out without getting their feet wet or ruining their clothes while waiting for the weather to clear up. You’ll find that bringing a tarp is insanely helpful for your festival experience.

9. Pedialyte

Okay, it sounds really silly, but hear me out… Pedialyte is going to be your best friend at a music festival. We talked about the importance of hydration earlier, and Pedialyte is really going to help you achieve that.  While drinking, walking, and standing out in the hot sun, you should always try to at least start and end your day with a big swig of Pedialyte. Pedialyte will give you all the electrolytes and nutrients you need to feel refreshed. Many people also swear by chasing shots with Pedialyte, so you could use this as an anchor to remain hydrated as you drink. You can find Pedialyte in any local grocery store.

10. Clear Fanny Pack

Festivals have different restrictions when it comes to bringing bags inside. To be on the safe side, bring a small, clear fanny pack to hold essentials like your wallet. This is arguably better than bringing a clear backpack because you can keep the fanny pack by your waist in front of you to avoid pickpockets. The lightweight feel of a fanny pack will also prevent you from getting too exhausted when walking around the festival grounds.
