10 Episodes Of Friends To Watch When Having A Bad Day
Episodes of Friends are the kind of thing that you can return to time and time again. What makes the show unique is that there are a variety of emotions created throughout each episode which enables the viewer to latch on to specific moments. In my experience, in no particular order, here are 10 episodes of Friends to watch whenever you’re having a bad day.
1. The One Where Everybody Finds Out
Yes, the main point of this episode revolves around Monica and Chandler’s relationship, but the glory revolves in the lead up. Phoebe attempting to seduce Chandler puts all her playful nature on display and get to enjoy watching Chandler crumble. This is a great episode to watch when you’re having a bad day because in the end the plot is about a love finally coming to light and you get to see a kiss you never dreamed would happen. Remember that they don’t know that we know they know we know and this episode will definitely put a smile on your face.
2. The One With The Prom Video
One of the episodes where Ross really shines, this episode can be the perfect pick me up on a bad day. If the weight of what Ross tried to make happen when Rachel was so disappointed doesn’t quite resonate with you, you can still enjoy the prom looks! Those poofy dresses along with Ross and that horrendous moustache are guaranteed to make you laugh. This is the coveted see? he’s her lobster episode and that line will always surround you with positive energy, making it one of the best episodes of Friends.
3. The One Where The Stripper Cries
In addition to Phoebe’s train wreck of a bachelorette party, we have Joey as the celebrity contestant on $100,00 Pyramid. I have yet to watch this episode and not start cracking up whenever Joey tries to answer on the show. Especially when he gets to the Winner’s Circle and inevitably gets some answers right, it’s hilarious. Throw in Danny DeVito dancing around the apartment and you’ve got an episode guaranteed to change your mood. This is one of the best episodes of Friends.
4. The One With The Embryos
Continuing this game show thread, this is the pinnacle episode of Friends. It causes the apartment switch which impacts future seasons and it is good comic relief from Phoebe trying to get the embryos to take. The questions are delivered flawlessly by Ross and you become so invested in the contest. Rachel claims this is her favorite movie: Dangerous Liaisons. Her actual favorite movie is: Weekend at Bernie’s demonstrates this bond the friend group has developed, and the incorrect responses show who has been paying attention. Therefore no one knows what Chandler’s job is and causes the ultimate demise. If game shows and lightning rounds are up your alley, this should be your cheering up episode!
5. The One Where Eddie Won’t Go
Eddie Menuek does not get enough credit as a secondary character and it will always baffle me. The sheer creepy nature of his character is only enhanced by his absurd behavior that quickly shifts back and forth. From watching Chandler sleep to the new “goldfish”, Eddie is simply hilarious. He is ultimately what brings Joey and Chandler back together (after taking Joey’s place) and his presence is never forgotten. If you need a good laugh all you have to remember is Well, see ya pals!
6. The One Where No One’s Ready
The simplicity of this episode is what allows this episode to stand out. No one is dressed for Ross’s black-tie benefit at the museum and the underlying frustration from all ends is what causes all the problems. From Phoebe’s dress stain to Chandler and Joey fighting over a seat, you can’t help but laugh while feeling for Ross. One of the best parts of the episode is when Rachel says she isn’t going because she’s going to catch up on her correspondence. Maybe it’s because of how dated that statement is but it cracks me up every single time.
7. The One With The Screamer
Even though you might think Chandler’s goatee is the most uplifting part of this episode, you would be mistaken. Although we see a lot of in between characters with Ross and Rachel, Tommy is by far the best. He simultaneously brings out the jealousy in Ross and makes other people in the theater uncomfortable. The humor comes in when Tommy is busted yelling at the chick and the duck ultimately confirming what Ross had said about him the entire episode. You’ll watch this episode and wish Ben Stiller had a larger role to keep you entertained!
8. The One With All The Jealousy
When you look at the big picture, this is not one of the finer moments for Ross. He goes extremely overboard with the gifts to Rachel’s office, but the quartet remains hilarious. The real reason why you should watch this episode after a bad day is for Joey’s dancing skills. He embodies what happens when you lie on a resume and the fact that he is left in charge of the group is hilarious. Whether you like to hear songs with lyrics like it’s nice to have a boyfriend or you can’t get enough of Joey in a sweatshirt, this is the episode for you.
9. The One With The Fake Monica
Talk about turning a tragedy into an adventure! Having your identity stolen is something that should have caused a breakdown for Monica, but it instead results in her broadening her horizons. She experiences new things, although with the strange addition of her identity theft, but it brings out a side of Monica that you haven’t seen up to that point. This episode is a reminder to be careful with your personal information but also don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Remember, I’m Monana! This is probably one of the funniest episodes of Friends.
10. The One With Princess Consuela
Season 10 is filled with many emotional episodes, but Phoebe and Mike are a light at the end of that tunnel in this episode. Phoebe takes something as simple as changing your name after you get married and turns it into a predicament. Princess Consuela Banana Hammock has no idea what she signed up for and never intended on marrying Crap Bag. It’s the small moments like this that get you through the emotional rollercoaster of a final season and will remind you to look at the bright spots in your day.
Here’s to the whole gang improving your day one laugh at a time. What episodes of Friends are your favorites? Tell us in the comments!
