Epic Paris Vacation Spots The Next Time You’re Visiting France

Oh, how I would love to one day visit Paris. Named the city of love for a reason, Paris has become one of the top travel destinations in the world. So, the next time you’re visiting the city of love, make sure you visit these Paris vacation spots.

1. Seine River

Explore one of the best Paris vacation spots while you’re settling in. You’ll enjoy the Saint-Louis and the Notre Dame Cathedral. Once you’re heading east, you’ll enjoy some cozy hotels and charming restaurants. Often nicknamed ‘Paris most beautiful avenue,’ the Seine River is located near some of Paris’ most iconic landmarks. A boat cruise on the Seine will allow travelers to see these landmarks and get a sense of how beautiful and vibrant the city truly is. The river also divides the city of Paris into two distinct left and right banks. The banks themselves are connected by a total of 37 bridges, including the Effiel Tower, the Pont des Arts, and the Pont Neuf. The river’s name originates in the Latin word ‘sequana.’

2. The Eiffel Tower

Yeah, no brainer. Built for the 1889 universal exhibition, the Eiffel Tower has become the ideal Paris vacation spots in terms of sightseeing. Not only is the view from the top of the tower is awe-inspiring, but you’ll be in the presence of a significant landmark featured in many different mediums. Brilliant engineer Gustave Eiffel and his company were responsible for constructing the tower. The assembly of supports for the tower began on July 1, 1887, and was then completed twenty-two months later.

The tower was assembled using wooden scaffolding and small steam cranes. Also, there’s a restaurant on the second floor that serves expensive food. How can you get better than that? On a side note, didn’t Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker had a fight scene in the EiffelTower during one of the Rush Hour films? If true, then all the more reason to go. In terms of Paris vacation spots, this one has a historical aspect to it that trumps all others.

3. The Louvre

Home to great masterpieces from artist such as Leonardo da Vinci and Venus de Milo, the Louvre attracts nearly eight million people each year. Housed in part of a large palace in Paris, the museum houses 35,000 pieces from all over the world. The Louvre was even featured in the Wonder Woman film not too long ago. If I were lucky enough to become an artist, I would want my work showcased in the Louvre.

4. Arc de Triomphe

Arc de Triomphe was inaugurated in 1836 by the French king, Louis-Philippe. The monument honors those who fought during the French Revolutionary war and the Napoleonic wars. The names of all the French victories and generals are inscribed on the inner and outer surfaces of the monument. When it comes to Paris vacation spots, this is for those who have an interest in the history of France and the triumphs and defeats it had to go through in order for it to have become the city it is today. The Arc de triomphe is accessible through both the RER and Metro. Beneath the arc is a tomb of an unknown World War I soldier.

5. Palace of Versailles

In 2017, the Palace of Versailles became the 2nd most visited monument in Paris, attracting nearly 8 million travelers. The history of the palace is linked to Louis XIV. The father of Louis XIV sent him and his brother to Versailles to escape a smallpox epidemic. The Palace was temporarily closed during the first World War.
