12 Easy Ways To Change Your Style This Fall

It’s always fun to get new clothes and revamp your style when the seasons change. Now is a better time than any to pick up some new clothes and feel like your best self. We have curated some useful tips that will have your closet looking better than ever, just in time for Fall.

1. Work with Patterns

One of the main things we tend to see during the Autumn months is plaids and flannels. What more to get in the Fall spirit than to add these items into your wardrobe? If you’re trying to stray away from the norm, try houndstooth or herringbone. The possibilities are endless. If you want to get extra funk, try pairing different patterns together. You never know what cool look you can come up with if you just think outside of the box!

2. Play with Textures

The best thing about Fall is all of the comfy cozy clothes we get to wear. Because the weather is just breezy enough, but not too cold, it’s the perfect time to try out different textures. Swing for a chunky loose knit sweater. There are endless amounts of possibilities you can pick from. Go for a leather jacket or a cute suede skirt. Have fun figuring out what fabrics would work best with your wardrobe!

3. Don’t Be Afraid to Accessorize

Nothing screams fall more than a chic hat, cute boots, and layered jewelry. When getting your closet ready for Autumn, remember that it isn’t all about the apparel. Push yourself to take more risks with your fashion. Maybe it’s time to get a pair of those trend white booties. If you are more laid back with your style, try a beanie on for size. Don’t forget about sunglasses. Try a rose gold/copper lense. They’ll go perfectly with the Fall leaves.

4. Try Bold Colors

If you’re more inclined to go for neutral colors, try stepping outside of your comfort zone. There’s a rainbow of colors out there for you to try. It’s 2020, and things are pretty crazy. Maybe it’s time to go big or go home. Rather than opting for a white, black or gray outfit, try a pop of color. If you’re used to blending into the background, that’s okay. You can always go for a more toned back color like the deep oranges and reds pictured below.

5. Buy Quality Basics

The most important part of an outfit is a perfectly tailored basic that can go with anything. A good basic can range from a good white t-shirt/buttondown to an awesome pair of jeans. You can even consider a leather jacket or white sneakers a basic. These are items that you can style multiple ways and still come up with completely different and adorable looks. Wear the white sneakers with a dress (which we talk about below) or throw on the leather jacket with a jumpsuit for a night out. Buy the perfect pair of jeans that you can wear into work and then style for a date later that night. We know this takes some work, but it’s worth it in the end.

6. Learn How To Layer

Because the weather is getting cooler, Fall is a chance for us to dress cute and comfortable. There’s no better way to do that than with a perfectly layered outfit. Even if it’s just a sweatsuit and an overcoat with a few accessories thrown in, there is still some depth. If you want to take things further, try adding a suit to your wardrobe. There are so many options to choose from and so many different ways to style, it’s a look anyone can pull off. One of our favorite brands for layering is Song of Style. There are awesome overcoats, pants, skirts, and more to pick from. Many of which have the same pattern that can be paired or mixed and matched.

7. Try a Monochromatic Look

Just like we said above about adding a pop of color, keeping it monochromatic can take it to that next level. It makes the outfit look incredibly put together and chic if done correctly. Make sure the tones are as similar as can be and try playing around with different textures like the photograph below. As you can see, she’s wearing a sweater with a satin skirt. She then pairs it with a leather bag and suede boots. Even though the colors are incredibly similar, all of the textures are different, creating depth and excitement all the way through.

8. Purchase a Trendy Coat

You can’t experience Fall without the perfect coat. Remember when you were in middle school, and all you wore were North Faces and Patagonia’s? It’s time to get out of that cycle and fall in love with a more adult and mature option. You will look effortlessly chic, and it can elevate any outfit you wear. Remember our talk about basics and layers? Below is an example that includes many of the tips mentioned. As you can see, she decided to get a jacket that’s both textures, patterns and layered. She then decided to pair the look with white boots and a simple white basic under-shirt.

9. Style Sneakers with Dresses

White sneakers with dresses have become a popular trend in recent years, and it is a trend for a reason. Not only is this option practical, but it’s cute. Get a pair of Stan Smith mules to easily slip on for the day out or wear Veja’s with a sundress. Feeling a little more street style? Go for some Nike Air Max’s. There are so many different sneaker options to choose from, you can tailor your look to perfectly match your personality.

10. Invest in Quality and Comfortable Sweats

There’s nothing better than a quality pair of sweats. Wear when you’re lounging around the house, running errands, or meeting friends for a brunch date. Sweats are no longer frowned upon as a style choice. Calpak has come out with fabulous sets that are perfect for every day, traveling, and more. Browse through the Target clothing section to find the most comfortable joggers you’ll ever own. You can always invest in more expensive sweatsuits such as Talentless, Pangia, RagDoll, Richer Poorer, and EntireWorld.

11. Add Jumpsuits to your Ensemble

When you’re not feeling like putting on jeans, try a jumpsuit on for size. Not only are they cute, but they’re pretty damn comfortable. Layer, accessorize, and more. There are so many different styles and cuts to choose from, you won’t know which options to buy first.

12. Embrace Rental Fashion

Unsure that these options are the best for you? Try a rental service on for size. If you don’t want to spend the money on buying new clothes, try a company like Rent the Runway. They were picked and curate clothing based on your style. Nothing loving the look? Send it back. Fall in love with something they sent? Pay for it and keep it. This is the best option for people who have shopping commitment issues.
