12 Easy Meals To Prepare On Date Night To Impress Your S/O

Looking to add a little something extra to date night? Next time you have a night out, spend it at home and whip up one of these easy meals that are guaranteed to knock the socks off your S/O!

1. Pasta Primavera

Pasta primavera is essentially pasta and veggies, but the name makes it sound so much fancier, don’t you think? Trick your S/O into thinking you slaved away all day to prepare this Italian dish, when in all actuality it’s probably one of the easiest meals you’ll ever make! The colors in this pasta dish are absolutely beautiful and it’s light enough where you won’t feel bloated if things get a little heated after dinner. Serve this meal with a glass of white wine and a loaf of bread and sit back and listen to your S/O sing your praises!

2. Chicken Parmesan

Chicken parm is a classic Italian dish, and with this recipe you can serve your S/O an entire meal (besides yourself of course) for themselves. It’s served on top of spaghetti, so you can live out your Lady and the Tramp fantasy in the comfort of your own home. Light some candles and put on some Frank Sinatra and transport your date to the Italian countryside without ever having to leave your home, or even put in a whole bunch of effort. With the time you saved on this meal, give yourself a little more time to obsess over your outfit for the evening!

3. Cajun Shrimp Pasta

Spice up your date night with this Cajun shrimp pasta recipe. Because it’s Cajun, it’s got a bit of a kick, so if you and your S/O like to try new and exciting things, definitely serve up this meal. Just make sure your date can take the heat! And pro tip: make sure you’ve got some breath mints on hand. You can thank us later!

4. Steak And Potatoes

Steak and potatoes is a classic meal, and it’s a great option for a couple who just started dating. For the most part, steak and potatoes is a safe bet because the flavors are super simple and seem to be enjoyed by most palates. This recipe is made in foil, which means you’re cooking the entire thing at once which is incredibly convenient and easy. This meal pairs great with red wine and a little black dress!

5. Skillet Chicken With Mushroom Wine Sauce

This dish sounds incredibly fancy, but it could not be easier to make. The entire meal is made in a skillet, so this is a one and done meal which makes it another great option if you’re going for convenience. It’s served in a wine sauce, which you should tell your S/O with complete confidence so that they think you’re a class A cook, when in reality you really just threw some stuff in a pot. But shhhh! They don’t have to know that. We won’t tell if you won’t!

6. Avocado Grilled Chicken

This grilled chicken recipe is light and refreshing, and the avocado topping makes this meal a perfect option for a Summer date outside. The flavors are de-lish and tangy, and it pairs great with a side of asparagus that you can grill on the bbq right next to your chicken! Set up a picnic table outside or if you’re lucky to live near the beach, pack a basket and eat the meal al fresco with a great view… and hey, eating with a view of the ocean will be pretty cool too!

7. Shepherd’s Pie

Shepherd’s pie is one of those meals that you can literally throw together and let it bake. Your work is very minimal, but the end result is super impressive. Plus, in this one crust you have an entire meal. Your S/O is sure to be impressed, you’ll end up with a delicious home-cooked meal and you’ll have time to spare to get ready. Honestly, this recipe is just a win-win if you ask us!

8. Caprese Chicken

This meal combines a classic- caprese- with an old standby that just about everyone knows how to make. This recipe basically takes grilled chicken and gives it a major glo-up. And it could not be easier. The meal requires no extra cooking than a normal grilled chicken meal would. Just grab some fresh tomatoes and mozzarella and pile it all on top of the chicken! The flavors are super fresh and the warmth from the chicken will start to turn the mozzarella all ooey-gooey, kinda like your S/O’s heart when they see you!

Fish is a great option to cook during the summer, and most of the time it will take less time to prepare and cook than a traditional meat meal would. This Greek-style cod dish is so buttery and crispy and flaky that it will literally melt in your mouth while your date melts your heart! Just make sure to light a candle before your S/O arrives to get rid of that lovely odor associated with fish.

10. White Chili

Chili is definitely a unique meal to cook for your S/O, but they will certainly appreciate the creativity! Chili is one of those meals that needs to sit and cook all day, but the good news is once you throw all the ingredients together it cooks itself, and it will leave your house smelling incredibly warm and inviting- which for sure won’t hurt for a date night at home! Set up a buffet of toppings to give your S/O a little involvement in the meal process, and dig in!

11. Lemon Garlic Steak And Broccoli

This meal is a classic twist on a Chinese classic, but the fact that it’s home-cooked will make it taste that much better. Turn it into a take-out stay-in night with a fire, a blanket and your fave movie.

12. Baked Salmon

Impress your S/O with this incredibly classy, incredibly easy meal. It looks just as good as it tastes, and it’s light enough to give you room for some dessert, if you know what we mean. If you and your S/O are big seafood lovers, this meal is a MUST try and we’re sure it will quickly become one of your new go-to’s for future date nights!
