5 Easy DIY Bling Nail Styles

Bling nails are a huge trend but they don’t have to be costly. You can obtain a bling nail look for a cheaper price by doing it yourself! Research bling nail press-on sets, which will show the results of many sellers and retail chains. Once you choose your look, it’s easy to apply by following this guide.

Royal

A nail set designed with bling patterns underneath a soft base coat leaves your look regal. Each pattern should be bold, allowing your nails to be the focus of your fashion look. You can wear this look in a coffin shape, to keep things trendy and modern. This look is best for dressing up for events and special occasions. Wear this look with a body-con dress in a solid purple or deep blue.

French

French tip nails are one of the most classic nail styles. With added bling, this look provides glamour and sophistication. If you’re looking for a french nail set, try choosing one that accents the curve of the white portion of the nail. This way, it doesn’t overpower the look. This style can be worn longer in a coffin shape, short and square, or medium-almond. Either way, you can wear this set as an everyday go-to.

Clear

Clear nails with added rhinestones pair well with any outfit. You can find this bling nail look with large rhinestones, small ones, or a mixture of both. The colorful glimmer of each stone makes it easy to wear with an ultra-girly dress or jeans and a t-shirt. Add accessories to your fingers by wearing gold or silver-tone midi rings on each finger. Or, you can wear a chain bracelet in gold.

Feminine

A simplistic look with a touch of bling is the perfect feminine nail look. Try finding a set that is almond or rounded shape for the tip of the nails. The best way to achieve a look that has more personality is to wear a nail set that has accent nails. Be sure one of the nails is fully polished with glitter, while the others stay solid.

Vampy

Deep purple color with added bling bows is a nail look that has pops of unexpected elements. This is the best aesthetic to wear when you want your look dark, yet sophisticated. You can easily achieve this look. Be sure to choose a nail set that isn’t too busy. You want to keep things simple, but surprising. Try a set that has a mix of solid nails, bling nails, and glitter.

Once you’ve chosen a nail set. You can begin to apply each nail! Follow the instructions below for the best results that last the longest. Remember to take your time and be very gentle with your natural nails to prevent harming your plate or cuticles.

Materials

Obtaining the appropriate materials is key to your bling nail look. You will need the following materials:

  • Press-On Bling Nail Set
  • Nail Files
  • Glue
  • Clippers

You can find a pack of nail files at your local drug store. They usually come in a pack of 4 or more. If you decide to order online, be sure to read the product description.

Step 1:

Before applying your bling nail look, you want to clip your natural nails to prevent lifting. Clip each nail low and even. Be sure not to cut your nails too low, to prevent damage to your skin and irritation from the nail glue.

Step 2:

Next, you want to push your cuticles back and file your natural nails. You can use a cuticle stick to push your cuticles down, gently. Do this on each finger before you move to the next step. This way, all of you make room for the press-on nails to fit over your entire nail. Be very careful when completing this step, to prevent bleeding, as your cuticles are very thin.  After you finish your cuticles, take your nail file and file the body of your nail. File each nail until your natural nail has no sheen. Once you no longer see any shine to your nail, you can wipe away any dust from filing. Use a cloth or dry material to dust your nails.

Step 3:

Once you have your nails clipped low and your cuticles pushed back, you can start to measure each press-on to your natural nail. To do this, place each press-on nail on top of your natural nails, as if you’re gluing them on, but do not apply glue. You simply want to make sure the entire nail fits on each finger.  If you find that the faux nail is too big and you can’t find another fit, you can use the nail file to file the nail on the sides, until it fits. If the nail is too small, it’s best not to use this particular nail, because it may start lifting and actually fall off very soon after.

Step 4:

Once you have your nails fitted and filed, add one drop of glue to the back of each nail. Add the drop to the middle of the press-on and firmly press the nail onto your natural nails. Be sure to use the correct press-on that you measured for each of your fingers. Hold the nail for a few seconds to make sure it’s secure. When completing this step, be sure to lay the press-on nail over your entire natural nail, down to your cuticle. Don’t move it too far down the cuticle, but just enough, so there is no space between your natural nail and the press-on. This will leave your nail set to look professional.

Step 5:

Since your bling nails come polished and embellished, there’s no need to polish them yourself! You can buy a set of press-on bling nails at the local store, or you can buy them online. When purchasing online, be sure to pay attention to the number of nails and the shape of each nail (coffin shape, round, almond, etc.).

Applying press-on bling nails is the best way to achieve the popular look, without spending a fortune. Each nail set is available in vibrant colors from pink and purple, to muted colors like black and french tip.

Now that you know how to create your own bling nail style, which looks will you create next?
