25 Easy DIY 4th of July Decoration Ideas On A Budget

Fourth of July decorations can be expensive, and it makes me wonder if the prices for decorations is worth it. DIY is always an option, and this summer, we have 25 easy DIY decorations for you!

1. Mason Jars

Mason jars a modern trend, but pretty cheap to purchase. Most if not all stores sell them, especially at Target. You may be able to find them in the ‘five dollars or less’ section that they have at the beginning of the store. Paint the jars, or tie a red, white, and blue ribbon around each one, and fill them with candies. 

2. Patterned Utensils

One of the best things about plastic forks and knives – they can be thrown away if you mess up. You can get stick-on sparkles for the handle portion, not where you use to eat. You can also tie a bow or do other fun tricks to add to the decoration. DIY is fun!

3. Popsicle Sticks Painted

This DIY decoration for the fourth of July is meant to be fun. Get some popsicle sticks, and your form of coloring – (pencils, pens, paint), and make the sticks into stars!

4. Painted Shells

Seashells and summer go together like PB&J. Gather some shells by the ocean, and paint them red white and blue!

5. Decorative Tape Over A Picture Frame

This fourth of July decoration is exactly what it sounds like. Easy to do, and it will certainly brighten up your summer party!

6. Bandana Hanging

Bandanas are so early 2000’s, yes, but they make for a great DIY decoration. Gather a few of them, and hang them up on either a clothesline or make a pinwheel out of them! It sounds harder than it is!

7. Ribbon

Tie a variety of colored ribbon around your mailbox, fence, or an outdoor bench you have in your yard. This will look super patriotic and colorful!

8. Lolipop Bowl

Blue and red colored lollipops make for great decorations. DIY isn’t always easy to think of, but this decoration will also be edible!

9. Garland

It isn’t the fourth of July without an outdoor garland. To make, you’ll need ribbon or tissue paper, glue, and a string to attach them to. Hang it outside along the fence!

10. Balloons

Balloons are a classic when it comes to DIY decorations. Inexpensive to purchase, and quickly made. They sure brighten up any room! Tie them around the mailbox or any outdoor lounge area.

Flowers are beautiful, and a great idea for the fourth of July decorations. Purchasing flowers won’t take long, and they aren’t too pricey. Consider picking them if you live nearby white daisies!

12. Layered Pudding

Food can also be seen as a decoration. Layering putting is colorful and attention-grabbing, not to mention delicious!

13. Red Solo Cups

Red and blue solo cups are sold at any retail department store, and you can probably get red white and blue cups for $10 or less. Fill them with drinks, or just leave them out for their color!

14. Fruit Filled Water Jug

In the summer, everyone needs water, especially at a party or gathering. Get a water jug, and fill it with blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries!

15. Red And Blue M&M’s

Candy is a fun way to add color and decor to a party – not to mention it also feeds your guests! Use mason jars, solo cups, or any bowl to fill with red and blue colored M and M’s.

16. Mini American Flags

Yes, of course, we can use American flags as decorations. They make perfect decorations, and they are easily purchased anywhere! Line them next to your mailbox or the walkway/ steps leading to your house!

17. Tablecloth

As much as we don’t think so, a tablecloth is necessary at all family get-togethers. Try this dual-action decoration and tablecloth!

18. Bow Tie

This DIY decoration is actually made with hair ties, red white and blue. Tie them into a bow shape, and place them on or around the table, making for a pretty decoration alongside the food and refreshments.

19. Red, White, And Blue Candles

Candles are always in style, no matter what season or holiday it is. You can get these from Tj Maxx, Homegoods, Walmart, or Target, and then add to them as you please. You could decorate the candle jar with glitter or paint as needed!

DIY decorations are fun, and it can be made simple by using things that you already have or know that you will need. You can wrap paper or wrapping paper around the box of tissues, and no one needs to know you ever used it as a DIY!

When it comes to having a party, you know you will need coasters. Consider getting fourth of July colors and your decor work is done!

22. Marti-Gras Beads

These necklace beads are made as a decoration and necklace. Consider putting them in central areas in your house so that everyone will take notice!

23. Mini Alchohol Drinks

If everyone coming over is over 21, this is a great idea! Get a bunch of small-sized drinks, and lay the colors out beside each other. Fourth of July decorations can be really fun!

24. Welcome Mat

Everyone is welcome, right? Having a welcome mat is one of the easiest decorations, and you can most likely find them at places like Tj Maxx or Target. When it comes to fourth of July decorations, sometimes you have to think outside the box!

25. Glitter

Putting glitter all over your guests may not be a super smart idea, but putting it outside in the yard, or by the walkway, is a friendly and inviting way to show off your party!
