Easy Coffee Drinks You Can Make At Home
Coffee is arguably the best part of any good morning. That delicious cup of caffeine gives you what you need to be ready for the day ahead, and it’s utterly delicious! Sometimes, though, it can get a tad boring drinking a plain cup of coffee every day.
However, the money it costs to get a fancy coffee drink from a café isn’t always worth it! Instead, try making one of these incredibly coffee recipes at home! It’s much cheaper, and it’s a fun way to spice up your daily coffee-making habits.
1. Salted Caramel Mocha
This is a popular drink at Starbucks, and even some smaller coffee shops make some delicious versions of this sweet mocha. In order to make your very own from home, here’s what you’ll need:
- ¾ cup of freshly brewed coffee
- ½ cup of milk
- 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce
- 2 ½ tablespoons of hot cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- Whipped cream (optional, but recommended)
To start, you’ll need to brew some coffee in whichever way you prefer. Then, pour your half cup of milk into a bowl and microwave it until it starts to bubble up. Pour the milk into the coffee, combining them into a mug.
Now you can add the hot cocoa powder, salt, sugar, and caramel; mix all of these in thoroughly. To top it off, put some whip cream on your drink and it a bit more caramel sauce and a pinch of sea salt if you’d like! Now you have a delicious mocha to rival Starbucks’ own.
2. Vanilla Latte
This is one of my personal favorites, and it’s always my go-to order when I try a new coffee shop. Vanilla lattes are super easy to make, and they’re delicious every time! You’ll only need three simple ingredients to make this:
- ½ cup of espresso or strongly brewed coffee
- ½ cup of milk
- ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract
If you have a milk frother, go ahead and froth that half cup of milk. If you—like me—do not own one, here’s what you’ll need to do. Start by combining the milk and vanilla extract in a jar. Once you’ve done that, make sure the lid is tightly sealed and shake for a few minutes until the mixture becomes foamy. Now microwave this for 30 seconds.
Pour the heated mixture into your mug of coffee but try to make sure that the foam doesn’t leave the jar (you can use a spoon to hold it back). Mix the milk/vanilla into your coffee, and then add the foam on top to finish!
3. Pumpkin Spice Latte
This is another Starbucks favorite, and it’s a delicious drink to enjoy during the cozy fall season. This one requires a few more ingredients, but it’s still very easy and totally worth it. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 cups of milk
- ½ cup of strongly brewed coffee
- 2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree
- 1 ½ tablespoons of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice
- Whipped cream (optional)
Start by combining the milk, pumpkin puree, and sugar in a saucepan and place it on medium heat. Then, once it is hot but not boiling, remove the pan from the heat and whisk in coffee, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract.
This particular recipe makes two mugs, so you can then divide the mixture into two mugs (or make half the recipe if you only want one mug). You can opt to top it off with whipped cream and a little extra sprinkle of pumpkin spice, and there you have it!
4. Cold Brew
While this recipe doesn’t require many ingredients and it’s not very fancy, cold brew is a super easy way to make your coffee a little differently at home! It’s also nice if you’re in a rush most mornings and don’t have a ton of time to make fresh, hot coffee every day. You only need these two ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups of dark roast coffee, medium coarse ground
- 6 cups of room temperature water
You’ll also need a large jar, a clean towel or cheesecloth, and a strainer. All you need to do is pour the water and grounded coffee into the large jar, make sure it’s tightly sealed, and shake a few times. Then you need to place the jar in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
After the 24 hours are up, you can serve the coffee by pouring the mixture through a strainer that’s lined with a clean towel or a cheesecloth into a clean jar. Mix ½ cup of the filtered coffee with ½ cup of water to dilute it and serve it immediately! You can also put this over ice, but then you can dilute it with ¼ cup of water instead.
5. Americano
Much like cold brew, this is a very simple and standard coffee recipe without a lot of extra stuff incorporated. If you like a smooth, light cup of coffee, you should definitely try this recipe. You’ll need the following two things:
- 2 shots of espresso
- 4 ounces of hot water
This is super simple; all you need to do is brew your espresso, and then boil the water until it’s at about 190 degrees Fahrenheit. Then just pour the hot water into the espresso, and you have an americano! This is really easy, and you can tell your friends that you made a fancy coffee drink at home without doing much work at all!
6. Nutella Iced Coffee
If you’re a fan of Nutella, you absolutely need to try this delicious coffee recipe! Here are the ingredients that you’ll need to make it:
- 3 cups of milk
- 4 tablespoons of Nutella
- 2 tablespoons of instant coffee powder
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Ice cubes (about 6-7)
For this recipe, you’ll want to use a blender. Start by adding the milk, Nutella, coffee powder, sugar, vanilla, and 3 ice cubes to the blender and mix this well. Once it’s been fully blended, place your remaining ice cubes into two glasses (this recipe makes two servings) and pour the coffee mixture into each glass to serve on ice. Now you can enjoy this sweet and refreshing drink!
