10 Drinks To Order When You Hate The Taste Of Alcohol
Not that this ever really happens to me, but you know in movies when a guy comes up to you in the bar and starts chatting you up? He’ll give you a coy smile, touch your hand and say the words that every young woman wants to hear. “Can I get you a drink?” I mean, if this ever happened to me in real life I just know my mind would go completely blank. I don’t even like the taste of alcohol! And what happens if I ask for a drink that doesn’t even exist? Or if I order a drink and it ends up tasting terrible? Oh-so-many things could go wrong in this very specific situation that for some reason keeps me up at night even though I’ve never experienced anything like it. But hey, maybe that’s just me. But if it’s not just me, here are some fool-proof drinks to order when you hate the taste of alcohol!
1. Vodka Sour
This drink truly tastes like those lemonade shake-ups that you get at the county fair. And those are proven (not really) to be the absolute best beverage known to mankind. So, if you could get an alcoholic version of that perfect tangy refreshment, why wouldn’t you?!
2. Vodka Cranberry
Here’s one of the classic drinks to order when you hate the taste of alcohol. I’m assuming that this is every 20-something girl’s go-to drink. Spend 30 minutes at a college bar and you’ll never want to hear the words “vodka cran” ever again. But there’s a reason so many people get this drink. It doesn’t taste half bad! For two things that I don’t like on their own – vodka and cranberry juice – together, they taste pretty delicious.
3. Rum and Coke
Brown drinks typically scare me away completely because in my mind brown drinks equal 100-year-old whiskey. And that’s yucky. Clearly, I’m not sophisticated enough for that yet! But this dark drink isn’t intimidating in the slightest! It tastes just like Coke, and I can really get behind that.
4. Whiteclaw
Mixed drinks aren’t the only drinks to order when you hate the taste of alcohol! There are other options for those who are sugar-free. Whiteclaw is a brand of spiked seltzers that are truly wonderful. They come in a variety of flavors like grapefruit, lime, raspberry and black cherry. My personal favorite is lime because it’s so refreshing.

5. Vodka Soda with Lime
A lot of mixed drinks are super sugary, so as far as drinks go, this one is “healthy.” It’s also super light and easy to get down. The lime portion of this drink is imperative in shielding the taste of vodka, so don’t forget it!
6. Mimosa
Mimosas are not just for brunch. Spread the word! But seriously, mimosas are great at night too. Don’t be ashamed to order a “breakfast drink” after 11 a.m. because these drinks are tasty and good 24/7.

7. Screwdriver
Here’s another example of a drink with orange juice that can definitely be enjoyed at any time of the day. They’re just orange juice and vodka, but the OJ does a great job covering the bite of vodka.
8. Long Island Iced Tea
Don’t be mistaken, Long Island Iced Teas don’t taste like iced tea. But they still taste pretty good. Which is surprising when you see how much alcohol is in them! So, be careful if this is your drink of choice. They really pack a punch! Drinks to order when you hate the taste of alcohol don’t have to be light on the alcohol entirely. In this one, conversely, the different kinds of alcohol hide each other’s tastes.
9. Moscato
Although wine doesn’t have the typical taste of alcohol that most people think of, it can be hard to drink certain wines as a beginner. Moscato is an incredibly sweet wine that honestly just tastes like sugar water. It’s delicious and great for people who really can’t stand the taste of alcohol in any way!
10. Hard Cider
If you don’t like the taste of alcohol, you probably don’t like beer either. Beer gets a bad rap a lot of the times, unjustly so! It’s a lot safer to drink than some of the stronger mixed drinks. And there’s nothing quite like cracking a cold one on a hot summer’s day. But, if you really can’t get behind the hoppy flavor of beer, try hard cider! They’re typically fruitier and easier to get down.
