8 Dorm Parties Where You have To Dressing To Impress

Dorm Parties are  a part of the college experience. Shopping for outfits and dressing up with your friends is something to look forward to. Kick the night off right with 8 theme party looks.

1.  80’s Craze

Throw it back a few decades with this dorm party look. The 80’s were full of funky clothes and hairstyles ranging from leg warmers to scrunchies. You’re going to need a lot of neon to impress with this style. Start by researching some inspiration for your style. The 80’s went in different directions with style. Narrowing down your options will help with your outfit. We have the Madonna look. Curls, black headband, dresses, leather jackets and lace. This was definitely the cool girl look. We have a fitness babe looks like Olivia Newton John. You’ll need a bright leotard and some tights underneath. You could go the schoolgirl route with a 80’s inspired shirt or dress and leggings. I suggest trying it all on and seeing what fits your style. There’s so much you add on even with the things you have in your closet already.

2. Traffic Light Rager

A traffic light dorm party is such a great way to get things heated. Traffic light means you come to the party dressed in either red, green ,or yellow. Red indicates you are taken, green means you are single, and yellow tells people things in your love life are complicated. That could mean you’re talking to someone, but still willing to play the field. Traffic light parties are a lot of fun. They give people the opportunity of breaking through the ice and know for sure if someone is available. It can also strike up a conversation about your status. Why are you single or complicated? Anything that could get them a chance to talk to you. Shoot your shot next time you attend a traffic light party.

3. Anything but Clothes

A dorm party like anything but clothes is for sure going to be one to remember. So if it’s not self explanatory, the rules are you can’t wear anything made of clothing. Your options are garbage bags, caution tape, duct tape, shopping bags, anything you can think of that’s not clothing. The idea at first may sound a little weird or slightly uncomfortable. Trust that’s a fun event to attend when you look past it. These parties are always so creative. People probably attend more to admire and show off their costumes. It’s the type of party where you don’t have to take yourself too seriously. You know you’ll want to look good, but the humor behind it will stand out more than the actual look. Show off your creative chops with a fabulous outfit.

A Nautical themed dorm party is such a great twist of regular college parties. Pretend like you’re on a boat and dress up in your best sailor/ first mate outfit. Get shipwrecked with your friends, picking out a nautical outfit is half the fun. Be on the lookout for sailor hats and striped shirts. Reds, whites, and navy are all great choices to work into your outfit. Ladies, a striped dress would do the trick. Pairing it with some flats or Sperry shoes would put you over the top!

Let’s get wild in the jungle with this dorm party theme. Dress up as your favorite jungle cat or funky monkey. For all my animal lovers, here’s your chance to see how well you can match a jungle look. You could do cheetah, zebra, tiger print and more. There’s tons of fun prints to play with that make for a pretty amazing party outfit. There’s also dressing up with your partner as Tarzan and Jane. A very cute and classic look guaranteed to catch many eyes at any fun jungle party. Make the most of nights like these because they don’t come around often. College has a time limit. Don’t  let it pass you without causing a rumble.

6. Fiesta Time

A dorm party is not complete without a fiesta! Imagine taking a trip down to Mexico without leaving the dorm. A fiesta party means you’ll see some great food, awesome decorations, and latin music guaranteed to move your hips. Break out your sarapes and sombreros! Celebrate this amazing culture in style. Always try to be authentic. Look for cultural pieces like embroidered tops and dresses, clothes that represent more than just the colors of their flag. Join your friends and have fun ringing in a fiesta this semester!
