Using heat on your hair is one of the worst ways to damage it. If you’re constantly using coloring chemicals and using heat styling tools on your hair, chances are your hair dry and fried. To counteract these harmful hair practices, it is best to use a moisturizing hair mask, moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, and leave in conditioner to help your hair regain the moisture lost in these processes. If you want healthy, thick, luscious locks like you see in the commercials, it is really best not to use heat on your hair. That means no blow drying, no straightening, and no curling your hair using heat styling tools. There are a number of ways to get beautiful curly hair without using heat and if you don’t know how, just follow some of these methods down below!
So basically all of these methods are going to be done overnight while you are fast asleep. It’s the best way to keep your hair up for hours, without looking silly during the day time. Your hair is doing the work, while you get to rest up, yay!
If you want loose, big curls you can achieve these by doing your hair into a french twist and then securing the ends into a scrunchie so you don’t get the harsh line caused by a regular hair tie. To do this, you’re first going to need to part your hair evenly down the middle so you have two big sections. Starting on either side, take two strands of hair from the top, where the part starts, and twist the front piece back and over the second piece. Then you’re going to add more hair to this new front piece and then again, bring this back and over that second strand. Keep doing this until all of your hair is added into the twist, and then just twist the two strands down to the bottom. Repeat this on the other side and you can secure them into a bun together or tie them off separately. If you want smaller curls you can twist the hair tighter, but I think it looks better if you twist your hair pretty loosely to get those big, almost effortless, curls. When you wake up in the morning, then you’ll just have to untwist your hair, give it a tousle, and spray some hairspray in. It saves time and doesn’t damage your hair like heat does! If you try this method, let us know how you liked the curls in the comments below!
My favorite way to get beautiful curly hair without using heat is to use my robe tie to wrap my hair around overnight. Taking extra time in the morning to curl my hair is not something I want to do, so I do this pretty often to get a few more minutes of beauty sleep and let me hair do it’s thing while I’m dreaming. It’s taken me a few tries to nail it perfectly, but here is how I do it so hopefully you can get it right the first time.
First you should part your hair evenly down the middle, or wherever you like to part it. Then, take your robe tie and position the middle of it on the top of your head so that it is hanging evenly down on both sides. You can use a bobby pin to secure the side that you’re not starting with so it doesn’t move around while you are twisting your hair. The way you wrap your hair and add more strands is similar to the previous method of the french twist. The robe tie will act like a curling want in that it can provide that space for how loose or tight you want your curls to be. As I mentioned before, I prefer to have loose curly hair instead of really small tight ones, which is what happened when I did this the first few tries. I found that the messier and looser it is, the better the turnout. So just like with the french twist, you’re going to start at where your hair parts but just section off one small strand of hair, not two. You are then going to wrap this over the robe tie and back under, then add another strand of hair and again wrap it over the robe tie. Repeat this until your all of your hair is wrapped around the robe tie. You’ll probably have a lot of your robe tie left but I just left that hang out while I’m sleeping. Do this on the other side and when you’re off to bed, your hair will transform into beautiful curly hair overnight. It’s comfy to sleep on, so don’t worry about that!
One of the easiest ways to get curly hair without using heat on it is to french braid your hair before going to sleep. This type of curl will be more like a beachy wave, so if that’s what you’re trying to achieve then I recommend this method. You can part your hair down the middle and do two separate braids or just do one braid, it’s your choice. To get the perfect wave all over, I would recommend doing two braids, and it’s easier, too. So for this, you can start by again parting your hair evenly down the middle. Then start on one side by separating three small sections of hair where your hair starts to part. If you’ve french braided your hair before, then just do this all the way down on both sides and your set. But if you haven’t, it might be a little tricky, so I’ll do my best to explain. So you have your three sections, right. Hold the left section in your left hand, and the middle and right section in your right hand. You’ll start by doing a regular braid, so cross the left piece over to the middle now, and then the right piece over to the middle. Then add a small section of hair to the left piece and cross this over the middle one, then add a small section of hair to the right piece and cross it to the middle. Continue to this all the way until you have no more hair left to add in, and then you can just braid you hair normally all the way down. Just repeat this on the other side and you’re done! Beautiful beachy waves!
