10 DIY Spa Treatments To Give Yourself After A Long Day

As hard-working adults, we live in a world where we have to go to work, take care of our kids, or run errands and never really get a chance to take time for ourselves. Fatigue ends up becoming a major factor to the point where we don’t take care of ourselves. After a tiresome day, it’s always important to try to find time to pamper yourself somehow, and what better way to do that than with some at-home spay treatments. Check out these 10 DIY spa treatments that will make you feel rejuvenated and refreshed after a long day.

1. Rejuvenating Body Scrub

Nothing feels better on your skin than an exfoliating body scrub. Exfoliation is extremely important for your skin since it can remove dead skin as well as prevent dry skin. Create a body scrub that consists of olive oil and brown sugar with a mixture of manuka honey. To add in a touch of a lavish scent, add in either some lemon or oranges. Use this heavenly body scrub in a hot, steamy shower to make yourself feel more relaxed and your skin replenished to get a soft and healthy texture for your skin.

2. Heated Lotion

Applying a little bit of heat to your body will never do any serious harm. Usually after we shower, we moisturize our body with lotion. This time, before you go in the shower, try heating up your lotion by either putting it on a heating vent or a radiator. Once you step out of the shower and begin applying the heated lotion, your body will feel a sensation of warmth and comfort like never before.

3. Renewing Foot Mask

Sometimes, we often forget to take care of our feet. Our feet is one of the most important areas of the body that require the most attention when it comes to skin care, considering the fact that we are on our feet every day for long periods of time. To help renew your feet to their best beauty, create a renewing foot mask for them. By mixing together the ingredients of oatmeal, corn meal, sea salt and olive oil, and a couple of teas spoons of aloe vera gel, you’re creating a foot mask with enough consistency to make them soft, smooth, and lively. After massaging the homemade foot mask onto your feet, leave it be for a few minutes and then wash them off to give them a refreshing, revitalized feel.

4. Lemon Body Rub

Most people have trouble areas on their body where their skin is affected, such as having patches or dark spots. Essential fruit oils have been proven to help relieve the skin of such dermatological issues. Now, one more solution can do the trick for these spots. By taking a freshly cut lemon, rub the lemon on your trouble zones to soften the skin as well as reduce dark spots. The acid within the lemon plays a major role in reducing irritated skin as well as helping it heal. So when life throws you lemons, rub them on your body to have radiant, softer skin!

5. Shower Sauna

After a very long, tiring day, there’s nothing that a hot shower can’t fix, right? Well now it can get even better by turning your shower into a sauna! The smell and touch of steam is not only very therapeutic and relaxing, but it can also help clear anything within your pores as well. Turn your water on hot and let it run for about 20 minutes. Then spray down your washcloth with your relaxing oil to add a calming scent into your shower. This will definitely give you a feel of being at the spa while also revitalizing and replenishing your skin right before you go to bed.

6. Soft, Creamy Hand Treatment

We put our hands through a lot every single day. Whether we’re cooking or performing any heavy duty work, it’s important that we give our hands a proper treatment of skin care as well. Create your own soft hand treatment that can refresh your hands and augment your skin. Using one tbsp of olive oil, 1 tbsp sugar and a teaspoon of almond or grapeseed oil, mix the compound together and then moisturize your hands. After a few minutes, wash off the mixture and then apply some hand cream or lotion afterwards to further soften and restore your hands. This hand treatment will heal your skin on your hands as well as provide a delicate, complementary shine.

7. De-Stress In The Dark

Whenever it comes to any sort of spa treatment, we have to be able to set the mood to make things even better. Nothing can help with that more that by relieving stress in the dark. Try taking either a candle-lit shower or bubble bath and have your bathroom radiating with your favorite scent. Close your curtains, and just kick back and relax. Play a little bit of music in the background as well to set the tone even further. This method of an at-home spa treatment will leave you feeling so much better, more calm, and more at peace with this relaxing and serene environment around you.

One last at-home spa treatment to give yourself the ultimate spa day is by treating a part of you that we need the most: our eyes. Sometimes, we neglect to take care of the sense that we need to utilize every single day. When we don’t get enough sleep, that shows in our eyes with dark spots, circles, and bags under our eyes. Cool chamomile bags and cucumber slices are great conventional solutions to cool and alleviate the eye region. Potato slices are good for reducing puffiness of the eyes as well. To set the tone even further, light up some candles, play some music, and rest on either your couch or your bed to really indulge in the relaxing mood of the healing treatment that will encircle your eyes.
