DIY Instagram Calendar

This Instagram calendar is a really cute idea to give as a gift for someone, or to hang up in your dorm room! Use pictures of you and your friends from home, and you won’t have to take up as much wall space with other pictures. And I know it’s September and it’s not really the time to be making a calendar, but if you’re like me and it takes forever to do simple crafts, might as well get a head start! I might be able to finish it before January. Or it can be like a school year calendar that runs September 2013 to September 2014.

For this craft, you need poster board, 12 pictures you want, a mini calendar (unless you want to make the pages yourself), scissors, a hole punch, glue, yarn, and decorative paper for the cover.

To print out your Instagram pictures, you can use PostalPix to have them printed and sent to you. For the first step, you cut out your images and make sure the calendar pages are trimmed to the right size for yours. Also, cut out 13 pieces of your poster board, making sure it’s big enough so there is a border around each image.

Next step is to glue everything down, including the calendar pages, which you glue to the bottom of the poster board. Before you start gluing, it is a good idea to have everything laid out so you don’t end up making a mistake.

Once the calendar is all glued together, hole punch the top where the yarn will go. You’ll want these to be even, so I would measure it out so that you don’t have one hole that is an inch from the top and another that is three inches away. And don’t forget to measure the space in between the holes!

Now the fun part-decorating the cover! You can choose to decorate it however you want. As you see in the image, they added just a cute little 2012 in silver glitter paper, but you can add to that, or even make it more simple.

The final step is to use your yarn and tie it all together. Just weave it through the holes you made and make a knot! Trim off any excess yarn. Just make sure before you tie it that the calendar is in theĀ  correct order! You don’t want July coming after October by accident.

It’s really not hard at all! Something even I could finish in a day. It’s also a really cute wall decoration, and would be a perfect Christmas gift for friends or family.
