10 DIY Facemask Recipes To Try During Quarantine
Facemasks can be a great addition to your self-care routine during quarantine. With all this extra time on our hands, this is the perfect opportunity to create our own recipe for facemasks that are great for our skin. It sounds complicated at first, but DIYing your own facemasks couldn’t be easier. You most likely already have most of the ingredients in your home! Although, you can add or adjust ingredients to make your facemask match what your skin needs, here are some recipes to get you started for creating your own simple DIY facemask.
1. Banana Mask – Softer Skin
Got some old bananas that are about to go to waste? Put them to good use by creating a luxurious facemask with them. Bananas are good for moisturizing and making the skin look and feel softer. Heres what you’ll need:
- 1 banana
- 1/4 cup of plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of honey
Mash up the banana and mix all the ingredients together and viola! Leave on for about 10-15 minutes.
2. Lemon Mask – Exfoliation
Lemons are another common food we have in our homes. You may be hesitant to put lemon juice on your face, but it can actually be a great way to both exfoliate the skin but also provides lots of moisture. Heres what you’ll need:
- 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
Squeeze the juice from the lemon into a bowl and add the olive oil. Mix together and gently massage onto the skin. The lemon will detoxify the skin leaving it glowing. Massage for about 5 minutes and rinse off.

- 1/2 an avocado
- 1/2 a banana

Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl and you can always make more as needed. Gently massage onto the skin for about 2-3 minutes and leave on for about 10 minutes to allow the healing to soak into the skin.

Yes, you can even DIY your own lip mask! This one is super easy as it only needs two ingredients. You’ll need:
- 1/2 tablespoon of cane sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon of honey
Mix into a small bowl and apply to lips. Massage gently to allow the sugar to remove the dead skin cells. Let sit for about 5 minutes so the antioxidants from the honey can provide lots of hydration. After you rinse off, be sure to apply lip balm.
