5 Different Ways To Spice Up A Mimosa
When it comes to Sunday brunch, I don’t mess around. There are so many places to go and people to meet and things to do. You get to day-drink and have either breakfast or lunch food, so naturally, nothing can go wrong. The best part about brunch? Mimosas. No questions asked.
While I love myself a good mimosa (even when I’m not at brunch), do you ever just get sick of them? Not sick in a way where you wouldn’t drink one if it was the last cocktail on the planet, but just tired of the same old orange juice and champagne? I’ve always wondered about ways to spice up my mimosa and give it a twist.
So, I did just that. With the help of being a bartender and Pinterest, there are some pretty cool ways to spice up a mimosa that you probably never even thought of. So next time you feel like a mimosa (either at home or at brunch) try and ask if they’re able to make on these yummy mimosa twists.
1. OJ + Cranberry juice + Champagne
If you’re super picky and like your typical mimosa but are willing to try something a little different, this recipe is for you. It’s like your classic mimosa but with a splash of cranberry juice. This is a first-timer recipe and is perfect for having guests over, or if you want to order it somewhere at a restaurant. It gives a little more sweetness–and for the record, a nice color!
2. Rum + Pineapple Juice + Prosecco
I tried this one a few weeks ago, and I LOVED it! This is for the risk takers and the ones who aren’t afraid to mix their alcohols (let’s face it, we’ve all been there at one point or another). This drink is perfect to drink all summer long, any time of day. It’s also nice because you decide your prosecco to rum ratio–if you’re more of a prosecco person, it makes sense to do more prosecco over rum. The best rum to use with this is Malibu, but you can pick and choose. Top it off with pineapple juice and you’re set!
3. Skinny-mosa (Perrier Orange + OJ + Prosecco)
Everyone always has that one friend who wants to watch their calories or try and be healthy all the time. While I respect that entirely, it’s a lot to want to be that person all the time. Most times I would turn away any sort of “skinny drink”, but this one is to die for. While it’s a given you will not have as much prosecco or champagne, it’s totally worth it and refreshing. Perrier sparkling orange water with OJ and a splash of prosecco is the perfect summer refreshing drink.
4. Flavored Sherbet + Champagne
My friend’s mom made these for us one time, and this is another combo I would have never thought to make. Sherbet is already refreshing and sweet as it is, just imagine it with champagne–YUM! It’s like a root beer float but with sherbet and champagne–you can’t go wrong.
5. Tequila + Grapefruit Juice + Champagne
This is for the brave souls who are not afraid of anything. If you plan to get buzzed beyond belief, this mimosa is for you. Many people call it the “Mexican mimosa”, and boy is it good. All you need is your favorite tequila, some grapefruit juice, and champagne. I was hesitant to try it given the combination of the mixed alcohols, but it’s SO good!
