When looking for a good place to go out to eat, it’s not just all about burgers and fries. Ottawa is a little city full of great places to eat, especially if you want to feel fresh while eating fresh. After a bit of digging through the streets of the city, we spotted the most delicious vegan restaurants in Ottawa, and here’s why you just need to make a trip out of it!
From cauliflower wings to a full vegan-friendly menu as well as a juice bar that is to die for, Pure Kitchen has it all. With its several locations around the city, it has been named the 2nd best vegan restaurants in Ottawa, and we’re definitely not surprised. If you’re in search for a hub for a fresh healthy meal between classes, hit up Pure Kitchen on Elgin Street, just a few minutes walk from the uOttawa campus!
If you’re looking for a nice place to eat out with friends for a special occasion, Fraser Cafe offers both vegetarian and vegan options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. With an elegant ambience, private dining, reservation options and a wide variety of fresh Canadian dishes, this vegan restaurant in Ottawa features some of the most delicious soups, smoothies and pastas.
Situated right on Main St. Ottawa lays The Green Door, a buffet style vegetarian and vegan-friendly restaurant full of delicious rice plates, cauliflower stir fry and more! All items are labeled if they contain any eggs or dairy, and this place even comes in style with a freshly squeezed juice bar, a salad bar, and a collection of beers and wines to top off your meal. What more can we ask for?
If international food is what you fancy, you’re definitely in for a treat at Aroma Meze. Featuring some of the most treasured foods from the Mediterranean, Greece, and several other parts of Europe, this restaurant brings together some of the most fascinating vegan options that are sure to spark your interest, whether that’s the sweet and sensational tiramisu for dessert or the savoury marinated olives on the side.
One of the greatest food inventions of all time has to be vegan pizza, and frankly, no one’s complaining about it. Located right next to the uOttawa campus is this beautiful little pizza place inspired by Italian and Greek cuisines. With both vegan and gluten free options, Cumberland Pizza is one of the few vegan restaurants in Ottawa that offer cauliflower crust pizzas for lunch, dinner or after hours. All I can say is that when in exam-stress and doubt, check Cumberland Pizza out!
Soul Stone Sushi is one of those vegan restaurants in Ottawa that welcome guests of all interests, and that includes our friendly vegan or vegetarian eaters. This Asian sushi bar is one of the most beloved gems of the city, featuring an intimate atmosphere, and serving a range of vegetarian and gluten free Chinese dishes, from vegan stir fry to avocado sushi plates and many more!
One of my favourite vegan restaurants in Ottawa is the Feline Cafe. It’s literally a coffee shop where you can dig into some fresh vegan snacks and drinks while playing with cats that are up for adoption! You tell me, what’s better than that? With its cozy look and feel, the Feline Cafe is the place to be at any time of day.
If you’re a lover for all things sweet and savoury, this little vegan bakery on Wellington St. is a literal go-to. Serving delicious coffee with almond, soy and coconut milk options, along with the most mouth watering snacks, breakfast foods and lunch sandwiches, this place has to be one of the most to-die-for vegan restaurants in Ottawa.
I think it’s safe to say that is a vegan restaurant in Ottawa that truly sticks to its name. With a peaceful, “garden-like” atmosphere, the Peace-Garden serves a wide variety of vegan-friendly North American, Indian and other international cuisines. From an organic smoothie and juice bar, Indian style thali plates to burgers and even more, this fountain-side dining restaurant is perfect for a brunch out with friends or just a quick take-out on the go!
And finally, the burger and fries combo you’ve all be waiting for; The Works. One of the few restaurants in Ottawa that offer vegan burger options like black bean and mushroom burgers, with a side of crispy French fries and healthy lactose-free smoothies. On a mini get-together with some old friends, or just a take-out for your next class, The Works truly does the job!
