Delicious summer smoothies keep you feeling happy, healthy, and hydrated all day long in the summer heat! Not only a time for relaxation and delicious summer smoothies, but it’s also a time laden with tenuous outdoor exercise, burning sunlight, and the proceeding dehydration, which can cause headaches, cramps, and skin issues. Try out these delicious drinks to stay hydrated this season!
As far as delicious summer smoothies go, few can contend with a basic yet tasty berry and chia seed smoothie. Berries are very hydrating, especially strawberries. Throw in some chia seeds for some healthy fat, antioxidants, iron, fiber, and calcium, and some skim milk, almond water, or coconut water for a hydrating base (and don’t forget ice cubes). Also very good with a bit of yogurt for extra creaminess.
Cucumber may not be particularly fruity, but it can add a refreshing factor to any beverage, and its extremely hydrating as well. Cantaloupe melons are also very hydrating fruits, and perfect for the summer to boot. The two complement each other well, so it would stand to reason that blending the two would make for a refreshing and delicious summer smoothie. Also, mint and honey would make wonderful additions to this tasty drink.
For this drink, you need to chop up a pineapple (or buy one pre-chopped) and peel a mango, both of which are very hydrating fruits, and all summery and tropical to boot! Throw these in a blender with skim milk, coconut water, or almond water and voila! You’ve got a healthy and hydrating smoothie that almost looks like a pool-side cocktail!
Hint: throw in a cocktail umbrella or a toothpick with some pineapple slices on it for added summertime effect.
Keep piling on the hydration fruits! You already know that berries, namely strawberries, are super hydrating, and so are juicy peaches not surprisingly! Blend up a pile of strawberries and a couple of pitted peaches, along with your base of alternative waters or skim milk. A bit of yogurt can go a long way towards making it nice and creamy too – practically a milkshake!
Refined and refreshing; simply add some oranges and a mango (peeled obviously), a carrot, and some peeled ginger for a little bit of extra zest. You can also add some chia seeds for a bit of extra thickness and healthy fat, and of course your preferred base- though I think that almond water of coconut water would be the best option in this case. Blend it all up and you have one delicious summer smoothie!
Same as the O.G. cu’bermelon, but with the even more hydrating watermelon as opposed to a cantaloupe in this delicious summer smoothie. Ergo, watermelon plus cucumber equals one hydrating-ass smoothie! Cut up the melon (or buy pre-cut), chop up a cucumber and blend it all up with ice and your preferred base to make a perfect summer smoothie.
Don’t worry this isn’t a horrible kale and broccoli smoothie or soylent green. It’s a delicious summer smoothie that has three tasty and hydrating fruits in it that just all happen to be green: green grapes, kiwi, and honeydew. Blend all that nonsense with some ice and coconut water and you’ve got yourself one tasty smoothie! Also, heads up: this one is surprisingly good with yogurt.
Here’s another smoothie that is very good with the extra cream. Firstly, it has bananas, which are great with helping prevent electrolyte loss. It also has papaya as the main ingredient, which on top of being high in water content, also helps with digestion. Throw in some skim milk and yogurt for a creamy tropical smoothie, or maybe coconut water and chia seed for something more refreshing than creamy.
Not an appealing name for a delicious summer smoothie I know but bear with me here. Celery and carrots (which have plenty of water), as well as pineapple chunks, beets, and kale. The beets help lower blood pressure, improve athletic performance and are full of water content, and of course, kale is a great source of vitamin K and a powerful antioxidant. It’s a tasty red concoction that is full of water and iron – perfect for feeling good in the summer. Maybe ixnay on the creamy for this one though. You’ll be wanting more of a refreshing palate cleanser rather than a veggie milkshake.
What usually comes with summer? A lot of partying of course. Unfortunately, partying is usually followed by catastrophic hangovers. Of all our delicious summer smoothies, this one will have you back on your feet in no time! You just need grapefruit, which will reduce inflammation and increase hydration, pineapple chunks, which helps with the bloating and also hydration, coconut oil for the stabilization of blood sugar, fresh ginger for anti-inflammation and nausea as well as a bit of spice, and of course some yogurt for creaminess.
