Memorial Day means three things: warm weather, happy days and spring cocktails. The only thing nicer than laying out by the pool is doing it with a nice, boozy drink. Pull out that bar cart, rim those glasses and get ready to zest! Here are 7 delicious spring cocktails to enjoy over the long weekend.
It’s your favorite cantina order with a spring twist. Strawberries are in season and we’re jumping at the opportunity to use them in our spring cocktails. Grab some strawberries, basil, lime, tequila, Cointreau orange liquor and honey from your grocery store. Blend up the ingredients, minus the basil, till the strawberries are pulverized. Muddle up your basil sprigs, pour in your strawberry margarita base and serve over ice! Garnish with some basil and your guests will be impressed.
This spring cocktails list even has something for the whiskey lovers out there. All you need is whiskey, blackberries and simple lemon syrup. Shake up all the ingredients in a shaker till the blackberries are pulverized. (This is what gives is that pretty blush color!) Serve over ice and garnish with a few blackberries. This cocktail is so pretty in pink, you’ll be forgetting about that bottle of rosé.
It’s the season of flowers so its only right we include a floral-based spring cocktail. For this drink, you’ll need mint leaves, gin, Elderflower liqueur, a lemon and some bitters. Mix it all in a shaker and serve over ice. Add in some fresh mint leaves and slice of lemon to really set the season. The elderflower makes the drink aromatic and absolutely delicious and it’ll sure be a smash at your Memorial Day party!
Someone pop the bubbly: the perennial brunch cocktail is here with a spring twist. All you need are two ingredients: rosé champagne and grapefruit juice. Pour equal parts of each drink into a champagne flute and you’re ready to brunch so hard. If you’re feeling a little fancy garnish with a slice of grapefruit. Our favorite spring fruit makes another appearance in a classic cocktail. Now, you don’t think we could make a list of spring cocktails and not include the Moscow Mule, do you? Muddle your strawberries. Add in your ginger beer, vodka, simple syrup and lime juice. Stir. Pour your cocktail in a classic copper mug and garnish with a mint leaf. The strawberries give it a pretty red hue and a tasty tart flavor.
Who says you can only have one margarita? If strawberries and basil aren’t your jam, let the white peach save your Memorial Day weekend. Peel and slice some white peaches and throw into a blender. Add in your tequila, Triple sec, lemon juice and honey. Blend until it’s the consistency you like and serve over ice. Garnish with frozen peach wedges and mint. Delicious, refreshing and so easy!
